If you’re highly ambitious, safety-conscious, and enjoy challenging work in process manufacturing, then this role is for you.  Shell is looking for Packaging Process Operator to become part of our dynamic, self-managed Packaging Operations team at our Lubricants Plant in Brockville, Ontario.

Shell’s Brockville Lubricants Plant is the largest blender and packager of retail passenger-car motor oils in Canada, manufacturing multiple lubricant products resulting in the production of over 1,000 finished goods, and the newest facility of its type in North America.

As a Packaging Process Operator, you would be required to perform the following tasks:

  • Ensure that plant operations are conducted in a safe manner, and that all safety and environmental policies and regulations are followed

  • Operate packaging equipment, bulk connections, and processes via computerized process control system

  • Monitor process operations and troubleshoot process problems

  • Execute team production tasks and objectives for the shift to meet production goals

  • Perform various sampling and testing tasks based on department needs

  • Use SAP and other computerized programs for inventory management and daily operations transactions

  • Ensure diligent and thorough record keeping and documentation

  • Participate actively and constructively in team meetings, safety meetings and inspections

  • Work with Maintenance for the execution of various maintenance tasks

  • Safe lock-out and isolation of equipment as required for repair or maintenance activities

  • Enter work orders for execution of tasks by Maintenance

  • Perform housekeeping duties as necessary on and around equipment, process area, and raw material storage, keeping equipment and plant site clean

  • Identify opportunities for optimization and/or improvement of processes

  • Adhere to Respectful Workplace Policies

Requirements:

  • Must have legal authorization to work in Canada on a full-time basis for anyone other than current employer

  • At least High School Diploma

  • Mechanical aptitude with experience in operator assisted preventative maintenance is

  • ISO processes, procedures, and Quality management principles

  • Comfortable using of Power Tools

  • Operational knowledge and familiarity with automated processes and process control systems

  • Computer literacy is required and familiarity with SAP is an asset

  • Able to serve as a member of an emergency response team

  • Ability to follow safe lifting techniques, able to lift and carry 20 kg from ground to waist level

  • Able to climb ladders and stairs, work at heights and in confined spaces

  • Ability to work safely wearing a respirator or Self-contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA)

  • Willing to comply with Shell's drug-free and harassment-free work environment and comply with all safety policies and procedures

Normal Packaging Process operations work shifts are eight-hour days (0700-1500) Monday through Friday, as well as ten-hour afternoon shifts (1445-0100) Monday through Thursday. The shift rotation is four weeks on days and one week on afternoon. Start time of afternoon shift may vary based on business needs.

Packaging Process Operators are expected to progress to top rate and successfully learn to operate all work centers involved in operations as required by the progression system. The progression to the top hourly rate takes 3-6 years with a competitive pay rate.
