Pipeline Engineer
Job Description
We are currently looking for Oil and Gas Pipeline Engineers to be based in either our Aberdeen or Tonbridge office. The successful applicant is required to have a 2.1 Master’s degree or higher in engineering, aeronautics, naval architecture, maths, or physics and at least 2 years’ experience in a field relating to pipeline engineering, ideally with a focus on the integrity management of pipeline systems (onshore and offshore) and associated infrastructure.
We are recruiting for positions of Pipeline Engineer, Senior Pipeline Engineer, Lead Pipeline Engineer and Principal Pipeline Engineer depending on competence and experience.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Technical
- Search, review, analyse and manipulate data
- Prepare engineering calculations, particularly using Excel and Mathcad
- Write professional and concise reports, specifications and procedures
- Check engineering calculations, analysis, and reports
- Perform and check FE analysis (typically Abaqus), depending on experience
- Prepare and give presentations to clients and third parties
- Consultancy at/secondment to client offices as required
Supervision and Leadership
- Depending on your level of experience, you may lead small project teams including remote team members and contractors, with support from Senior Engineers. Senior and Lead Engineers will have line management responsibility.
Sales and Account Management
- Liaise with Business Development Managers and Heads of Discipline to support proposal writing and efforts to develop new business where required
- Act as client technical contact/representative for small, medium to large size clients
Project Management
- Planning and cost schedule creation, project controls and monitoring of cost and time to budget, liaising with the project controller
- Monitor project progress for on-time delivery and, in some instances, supervise sub-contractors for on-time delivery
- Reporting and progress assessment
- Project management qualification is desirable
Person Specification
- Master’s degree in relevant engineering or science discipline
- Fundamental understanding of pipelines and associated codes and standards
- Proven experience in one or more pipeline disciplines, including integrity management, pigging and in-line inspection, design, lifetime extension, decommissioning and energy transition
- Proven client relationship skills within an engineering project-based environment
- Strong analytical and organisational skills
- Ability to prioritise workload and communicate to stakeholders
- Excellent MS Office skills, particularly Excel and Word
- Excellent report writing
- Excellent attention to detail and high standards
- Ability to communicate effectively and appropriately at all levels
- Ability to work under pressure
- Flexible and adaptable
- Chartered engineer status is desirable
