An established and award-winning engineering firm that offers end-to-end services, including design, fabrication, machining, installation, and maintenance of custom storage tanks, silos, pressure vessels, process pipework, water and wastewater treatment solutions, are now keen to recruit a highly skilled Piping Designer.

The position that’s become available offers an exciting opportunity to develop a new chemical manufacturing plant based at a top tier COMAH site.

ESSENTIAL TO APPLY

* Experience in process chemical industry, particularly COMAH sites.

* Extensive experience in delivering technical solutions, managing projects, and developing key relationships with clients.

* Proficiency in CAD software and extensive knowledge of 2D and 3D CAD engineering drawings. Cadworx experience is desirable but training can be offered.

* Strong project management, problem-solving, and client engagement skills.

* Knowledge of piping design codes particularly ASME B31.3.

* Familiarity with the project life cycle such as FEED to construction and key stages such as a HAZOP.

* Excellent technical, numeracy, and people skills.

* Ability to manage and prioritise workloads under pressure to meet tight deadlines.

* Strong written and verbal communication skills.

* Proficient in Microsoft 365 software.

* Familiarity with use and manipulation of point clouds to aid design.

KEY RESPONSIBILITES

Piping Design:

* Generate Process & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs)

* Develop plant layout, skid structure and pipework arrangement 3D models and produce drawings / documents suitable for review.

* Pipe support drawings

* Be able to interpret vendor equipment and import in the working CAD model.

* Participate in design reviews and client pipework reviews

* Interface with many different Engineering disciplines and project management

Client Engagement:

* Engage closely with clients to understand their requirements and deliver tailored technical solutions.

* Manage and strengthen relationships with clients and stakeholders.

* Conduct site surveys, prepare drawings and document to aid proposals, and organise project documentation.

Technical Expertise and Compliance:

* Capable of following piping specifications and design codes within ASME.

* Some appreciation of steelwork to aid pipe support routes.

* Provide technical advice and support to internal sales teams and clients.
