Piping Inspector
Job Description
My client specialises in the design, development and application of NDT inspections. They are looking to recruit an experienced Piping Inspector for a site in Fife.
As a Piping Inspector you are required to physically inspect, assess, and report on the condition of pressurised piping and other equipment where required.
You will report directly to the Senior Plant Inspector, and client’s representative, for day-to-day work.
The working hours are: 08.00 – 16.30 Monday - Thursday, 08.00 – 14.00 Friday
Responsibilities:
- To act on behalf of the client as a competent person carrying out mechanical pressure system inspections, including NDT (UT, MPI, DPI) if required, in compliance with both legal and company standards
- To create appropriate NDT plans which includes the selection of suitable techniques for the detection of identified degradation mechanisms as detailed in the WSE
- Carry out Corrosion loop inspections, preparing work packs, input data into SharePoint and update registers
- Review piping work packs and line walk where necessary to identify and prepare for inspections and NDT activities
- Prepare piping inspection reports stating the as found condition of equipment including recommendations of future inspection intervals
- Create CAIRS and submit repair recommendations to Area Inspectors and the client
- Raise SAP notifications in respect to job planning and required resourcing
- Liaise with relevant client and other heads of departments (TAS/Corrosion Engineers/Area Inspectors) to ensure work deadlines are met where required
- Carry out Structural Inspections, PFP Inspection & Small bore tubing when required
Experience:
- Minimum 5 years’ work experience in a similar role
- Working knowledge and understanding of the Pressure Systems Safety Regulations 2000 (PSSR)
Qualifications:
- UKAS RG2 Category 3
- PCN Level 2 qualifications required in UT (3.1 & 3.2), MPI & DPI (desirable)
- IRATA Rope Access, L1, L2 or L3
- ASME Level 1 Plant inspector and/or API 570
