WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR

We are looking for our next Planning Administrator. The ideal candidate will be qualified to lead the Planning Department provide professional planning expertise, advice and recommendations to the Board of County Commissioners (Board) and the Planning and Zoning Commission (PZC); provide leadership and articulate long-range goals and direction for the department.

This position can accommodate a Hybrid-Remote work schedule

 

 

Here are some experiences and skills we are looking for:

· Bachelor’s degree in Urban or Regional Planning or closely related field and four (4) years of progressively responsible experience in local government planning or related field; or

· Master’s degree in Urban or Regional Planning or closely related field and two (2) years of progressively responsible experience in local government planning or related field; and

· Two (2) years of management or supervisory experience in a planning-related environment; or

· Any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the knowledge and abilities necessary to perform the duties of this job;

· American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP) certification, or ability to earn with one year;

· Valid Idaho Driver’s License, or ability to obtain.

 

THE OPPORTUNITY: Planning Administrator

· Lead the department and supervise department employees. Establish and implement goals, objectives, policies, procedures and priorities for the Department;

· Develop, manage, and monitor budget and fiscal activity to assure compliance with established cost and spending limitations;

· Prepare, submit and monitor annual expense/revenue budgets; seek, obtain and administer grants and alternative funding;

· Establish tracking procedures to ensure compliance with all land use regulations and conditions of approval;

· Coordinate research and applications for grants and other financial applications; administer awarded grants and submits accurate and timely reports as required;

· Prepare long-range plans and ordinance amendments, including periodic updates of the County’s Land Use Code and Comprehensive Plan, as well as the Capital Improvements Plan (impact fees), Master Recreation Plan, etc.;

· Ensure effective communication within the department, between departments, with the public, and with the Board and Commission;

· Respond to requests from public officials; provide information to the media; make presentations to various groups; assist in preparing press releases;

· Provide customer service the Teton County way!

This position reports to the Board of County Commissioners.
