Objective: Manage, order, and process purchase orders for equipment spare parts, operational supplies, and other goods and services needed for daily plant operations. Organize and manage physical inventory and inventory system. Partner with leaders to meet all business objectives.
Essential Functions
1. Partner and assist with shift supervisors to ensure the Maintenance department is run smoothly, efficiently and safely
2. Partner with shift Supervisors to coordinate repairs and preventive maintenance scheduling
3. Ensure proper installation, removal, repair and maintenance of all Company equipment
4. Maintain existing equipment, and develop new equipment and machinery
5. Partner with outside vendors to negotiate contracts, get quotes, purchase parts and services. Keep up to date files of vendors, services, parts, and costs.
6. Ensure safe working practices are followed by your maintenance team. Maintain a safe working environment. Conduct monthly safety meetings with maintenance team.
7. Work with current and prospective vendors to determine supply capabilities, transportation logistics, and delivery terms
8. Investigate alternative suppliers for better quality and pricing on supplies, parts, and equipment
9. Maintain maintenance supplies by ordering, tracking, and placing purchase orders and properly coding to correct GL codes. Keep an accurate inventory of all supplies. Make sure all waste is recycled properly.
10. Notify Management regarding overdue materials and parts with impact on repair time frames
11. Inspect all tools and parts received, verify part numbers, and check discrepancies such as damaged or unmarked parts
12. Perform cycle counting and inventory
13. Oversee the issue and return of parts and materials
14. Responsible for facility compliance with OSHA and HAZMAT regulations, including proper documentation.
15. Required to attend OSHA training annually, HAZMAT training as needed, and remain CPR and First Aid certified
16. Partner with shift supervisors to ensure fire extinguishers and sprinkler system are inspected monthly. Document compliance.
17. Partner with Human Resources in the recruitment, on-boarding and training of Maintenance employees
18. Accurately complete and maintain, including but not limited to: maintenance records, both ongoing and preventative, training, safety investigation and other safety records
19. Requires the ability to sit, stand and walk for a minimum 8-hour shift; Requires the ability to constantly lift, carry, push and pull 25 pounds
20. Ability to drive company vehicle for purchase of maintenance supplies
21. Required to work on-site, overtime, swing or night shift and weekends
Other Duties
1. Partner with others to improve plant efficiency and cost effectiveness
2. Lead improvement projects to maintain outstanding maintenance, safety and cleanliness in the facility
3. Partner with and be responsive to the Plant Manager, COO, Human Resources and other departments
4. Provide superior service to internal and external customers
5. At all times, be a professional representative of the company
Reporting Relationship
1. Reports to the Plant Manager
2. Works closely with Production, Shipping & Receiving, Maintenance Project Manager, and Human Resources
Minimum Qualifications
1. High School diploma or GED
2. Prior experience in manufacturing or maintenance
3. Excellent communication skills, including via email, phone and in-person
4. Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office; advanced skills in Excel
5. Self-starter able to work with minimal supervision to complete assigned tasks
6. Ability to drive company vehicle for purchase of maintenance supplies
7. Ability to organize, manage multiple priorities, and maintain high attention to detail in a fast-paced environment
8. Flexible – able to respond positively to changing business needs
9. Excellent logical decision-making ability
10. Ability to partner with employees at all levels of the organization
11. Treat all employees with dignity and respect
12. At all times behave in a professional and courteous manner
13. Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
1. Prior experience working in paper or packaging industry
Physical Environment/Working Conditions
This position is in the factory, where temperature fluctuations occur throughout the year and where employees must use eye and hearing protection and be cautious around equipment and forklifts.
