Plant Engineering Manager - Manufacturing

Global leader in CPG products needs a Plant Engineering Manager is responsible for leading the Engineering, Maintenance, MRO, and Quality functions to maximize production efficiency, reduce operational costs, and ensure equipment reliability. This role will drive asset optimization, capital investment strategies, and workforce development while maintaining compliance with safety, environmental, and operational standards.

Key Responsibilities & Performance Expectations:

1. Engineering & Maintenance Leadership

  • Increase production equipment uptime by 10-15% through proactive maintenance strategies.
  • Oversee preventive and predictive maintenance programs, reducing unplanned downtime by 20%.
  • Implement asset reliability programs to extend equipment life and lower repair costs by 10% annually.
  • Supervise and develop the Maintenance, Day Adjusters, and CTA employees, achieving a 90%+ technician retention rate.

2. Cost Management & Budget Optimization

  • Manage the MRO budget, identifying and implementing cost-saving initiatives to reduce maintenance expenses by 5-10%.
  • Oversee and improve the facility's steam, water, and electricity usage, ensuring efficiency targets meet or exceed AOP (Annual Operating Plan).
  • Drive Return to Capital (RTC) projects, restoring existing equipment to near-original conditions while minimizing capital expenditures.

3. Capital Deployment & Continuous Improvement

  • Identify and lead capital improvement projects that improve production efficiency and facility capabilities.
  • Work cross-functionally to execute engineering and manufacturing initiatives, driving a minimum 15% improvement in operational efficiency.
  • Ensure all contractor activities within the facility comply with safety, budget, and project scope expectations.

4. Facility & Asset Management

  • Maintain an accurate facility asset register, conducting quarterly asset reviews to track and optimize equipment lifecycle.
  • Oversee the water treatment program via third-party vendors to ensure compliance and operational efficiency.
  • Ensure regulatory compliance across all facility utilities (steam, water, electricity, waste management).

5. Team Leadership & Workforce Development

  • Recruit, train, and develop maintenance apprentices, including electricians and technical personnel.
  • Build a high-performance culture within the engineering and maintenance teams, focusing on skill development and knowledge sharing.
  • Improve communication and collaboration across engineering, maintenance, and production teams to enhance problem-solving and execution speed.

Qualifications & Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field .
  • 5+ years of experience in Engineering Management or Industrial Maintenance Leadership.
  • Project Management/Project Engineering experience .
  • Strong background in asset reliability, preventive maintenance, and capital project execution.
  • Proven ability to analyze complex technical issues and drive data-backed solutions.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and leadership skills to manage cross-functional teams and external vendors.
