Job Summary:
The Plant Manager will continually improve the respective areas of responsibility, increasing operational excellence respectively and for the company holistically. Effective and efficient use of all assets is a must for each value stream. This individual will be responsible for the performance of assigned product lines including (but not limited to) metrics measuring production schedule attainment, labor efficiency, overhead cost containment, on time delivery, safety incidents, and quality levels.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Participates in the recruitment, hiring, and training of manufacturing employees.
- Oversees schedules and assignments for the departments.
- Conducts performance evaluations that are timely and constructive.
- Coaches and disciplines employees as needed in accordance with company policy.
- Meets departmental KPI's.
- Eliminates waste within departments.
- Ensures safety, quality, financial, delivery goals and standards are met.
- Ensures a healthy and safe working environment, and compliance with federal and state regulations, through collaboration with environmental, health, and safety staff.
- Assists with long-range operating goals, expansion efforts, and implementation of new and advanced technology.
- Identifies and shares training opportunities for staff to build and improve skills.
- Organizes departmental structure and teams for optimal, efficient operations.
- Works with finance to develop operating budget.
- Delivers progress and production reports to executive team members as requested.
- Supervises equipment purchase, maintenance, and layout.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Education/Knowledge: Bachelor's degree in a relevant field required. Lean certification or Six Sigma Green Belt .
Experience: At least five years' experience in industrial plant operations management required.
Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Excellent organization and managerial skills. Thorough understanding of the policies and practices used in the manufacturing division. Ability to set long-term goals and communicate them to others. Ability to motivate and organize multiple efforts to accomplish goals.
Physical Requirements: Normal office environment which requires the ability to sit, stand, walk, talk, hear, and see. Prolonged periods standing or walking on production floor. Prolonged sitting at a desk and working on a computer. Must be able to lift up to 20 pounds at times. Must be able to quickly traverse manufacturing areas. Must be able to stand, bend, crawl, stretch, lay, and squat as necessary to root cause issues.
