Plant Manager - Industrial Biomass

Astute's Power team is partnering with a leading Biomass company to recruit a Plant Manager for its site in Stowmarket.



The Plant Manager role comes with starting salary of up to £60,000 + private medical + benefits.

Responsibilities and duties



Reporting to the Head of Industrial Biomass you will:



Lead the onsite maintenance team of 4 direct reports, including overseeing all training and development of the team.

Effectively plan and execute site outages, ensuring asset availability is maintained.

Ensure ongoing compliance with all regulations, including but not limited to steam and high voltage electrical equipment

Oversee troubleshooting and reactive works on the plant.

Assist with the transition of project installation phase, through to the O&M phase, ensuring a smooth handover.

Ensure the on-call rota is managed for the maintenance team, maintaining continuity of production and optimising asset performance.

Respond to occasional out-of-hour calls, where the on-call team require additional, high-level support.

Build and maintain excellent relationships with client and customers, as the main point of contact through O&M periods.

Ensure all defects are logged within the warranty periods and liaise with the project team in getting any defects resolved.

Oversee all stocks and spares to minimise plant downtime.

Oversee biomass supply to site, managing suppliers.

Oversee subcontractors on site, for the ongoing O&M or capital works and upgrade projects.

Ensure a high level of health and safety on site, ensuring all legislation and company policies are adhered to and escalate any issues to Head of Industrial Biomass Operators and QHSE Manager.

Represent the client at client meetings.



Professional qualifications



We are looking for someone with the following:



A relevant engineering qualified, at a minimum of HNC level

An IOSH or NEBOSH certificate is highly desirable

Maintenance experience on SCADA is essential

Experience working with boilers / steam raising plant highly desirable



Personal skills



The Plant Manager role would suit someone who is:

Salary between £50,000 - £60,000
