Air Management Systems Engineer – Vehicle Controls Team
Location: Greensboro, NC 

Starting Salary: $80,000 +   DOE

What You Will Do
As an Air Management Systems Engineer on Netgroup’s Vehicle Controls Systems team, you will play a key role in the transformation of the transport industry through your work with our client, Volvo Group. You will lead the functional development and maintenance of the Vehicle Air Management System while collaborating across global and local teams to ensure robust and innovative engineering solutions. Your role will include:

  • Leading the growth and upkeep of the Vehicle Air Management System.

  • Developing engineering concept designs, overseeing post-production maintenance, and managing engineering administration tasks.

  • Participating in cross-functional, global teams to ensure the delivery of complex components and systems with full life cycle responsibility.

  • Collaborating with local cross-functional teams (both on and off-site) to deliver robust, compliant engineering solutions.

  • Ensuring designs meet US, Mexico, and Canada standards, legal requirements, and Volvo Group’s Quality, Delivery, Cost, and Feature targets.

  • Providing technical solutions that align with business objectives and organizational goals.

  • Performing, evaluating, and reporting Verification & Validation (V&V) activities at component, sub-system, and vehicle levels.

  • Coordinating root-cause analysis, component releases (hardware and software), and resolving technical product quality issues.

  • Supporting modular system and component development to optimize part and system efficiency.

Your Future Team
You will join the Chassis & Vehicle Dynamics Engineering team, a highly skilled division within Vehicle Engineering at Volvo Group Trucks North America. The team leads complete chassis development for Volvo’s North American truck brands, with a focus on conventional trucks, electromobility, and automation.

This position reports directly to the Group Manager for Vehicle Control Systems within Chassis & Vehicle Dynamics Engineering in Greensboro.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical, Mechatronics, or Mechanical Engineering.

  • 5-8+ years of product development experience in the transportation industry, preferably in commercial truck development.

  • Experience working with Agile processes and methodologies.

  • Proven accountability as a component owner in product development.

  • Experience in global supply chain logistics, assembly methods, and spare parts management.

  • Proven experience leading cross-functional teams in a product development environment.

Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree in Electrical, Mechatronics, or Mechanical Engineering.

  • In-depth understanding of heavy-duty trucks.

  • Knowledge of commercial vehicle CAN communication protocols and tools such as Vector CANalyzer.

  • Expertise in Vehicle Control Systems and Heavy Duty Vehicle Air Management Systems.

  • Project management skills with the ability to troubleshoot electrical and mechanical issues.

  • Experience with FMVSS and CMVSS.

  • Familiarity with ISO 26262.

  • Basic CAD (CREO - AVP) experience.
