Position SummarySafrik Trading & Investment (STI) is seeking a skilled and results-driven Portfolio Manager to manage and grow its investment portfolios across multiple asset classes. The Portfolio Manager will be responsible for developing, implementing, and executing investment strategies that align with the firm’s goals, focusing on asset management, private equity, and commodities trading. This position requires a combination of strong market knowledge, quantitative analysis, and portfolio management experience to drive performance and meet client objectives.
Key ResponsibilitiesPortfolio Management & Strategy

  • Develop and manage investment strategies for assigned portfolios, focusing on asset allocation, risk management, and optimization of returns.
  • Analyze market conditions, economic trends, and financial instruments to inform investment decisions.
  • Monitor and adjust portfolios regularly to ensure they align with client objectives, risk profiles, and investment mandates.
  • Ensure that investment strategies align with the firm’s broader business objectives and the needs of institutional and high-net-worth clients.


Investment Research & Analysis

  • Conduct detailed research and analysis of global financial markets, industry sectors, and individual assets.
  • Evaluate potential investment opportunities, perform due diligence, and make recommendations for portfolio .
  • Stay informed about market trends, economic developments, and geopolitical events to identify opportunities and risks.


Risk Management

  • Implement risk management strategies to protect portfolio value and minimize volatility.
  • Continuously monitor portfolio performance, assess risk levels, and ensure portfolios remain within agreed-upon risk tolerance limits.
  • Develop and execute stress-testing scenarios to assess potential impacts of various market conditions on portfolio performance.


Performance Monitoring & Reporting

  • Track and report portfolio performance to senior management, clients, and stakeholders on a regular basis.
  • Provide insights into portfolio performance, investment strategies, and market developments.
  • Prepare and present detailed investment reports, ensuring accuracy and transparency.


Client Relationship & Communication

  • Develop and maintain relationships with institutional clients and high-net-worth individuals, understanding their goals and objectives.
  • Communicate portfolio performance and strategic decisions to clients, ensuring they are informed and confident in the firm’s management of their assets.
  • Work closely with clients to address any concerns, provide portfolio updates, and adjust strategies as needed.


Collaboration & Cross-Functional Support

  • Work closely with the research, trading, and operations teams to ensure seamless portfolio management and execution.
  • Provide feedback and collaborate on the development of new investment products, services, and strategies.
  • Support other departments by sharing market insights and contributing to firm-wide strategic discussions.


Continuous Learning & Development

  • Stay up-to-date with the latest investment trends, financial models, and asset classes.
  • Continuously improve portfolio management processes and tools to enhance efficiency and performance.
  • Participate in ongoing training and development opportunities to enhance professional skills and market knowledge.


QualificationsRequired

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Business, or a related field. CFA or other relevant certifications are .
  • Experience: Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in portfolio management, investment analysis, or a related field. Experience in asset management, private equity, or commodities trading is a plus.
  • Analytical Skills: Strong proficiency in financial modeling, quantitative analysis, and investment research techniques.
  • Risk Management: In-depth knowledge of risk management principles, portfolio construction, and optimization strategies.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex information to clients and senior leadership in a clear, concise manner.


  • Certifications: CFA, FRM, or other relevant certifications are a plus.
  • Industry Knowledge: Strong understanding of asset management strategies, private equity, and commodities markets.
  • Attributes: Highly analytical, proactive, and results-oriented, with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
