This role promises to be both challenging and rewarding, making it an ideal opportunity for candidates passionate about marine biotechnology and sustainable resource utilization.Information about the division and the departmentAt the in the group of Assistant Prof. Amparo Jiménez Quero, you will be working with a multidisciplinary and multicultural set of researchers with a broad background in biomass utilization, from enzymatic degradation to molecular characterization of biomass polymers and further material formulation. IndBio division is very well equipped with infrastructure related to the project goals but internal collaborations with other divisions at Chalmers will provide any neccesary facilities.Major responsibilitiesThe project aims to harness the vast potential of underutilized marine resources, particularly focusing on by-products from algae and fish markets. At the Division of Industrial Biotechnology, under the guidance of Assistant Prof. Amparo Jiménez Quero, you will work with a diverse group of researchers specializing in various aspects of biomass utilization. This includes expertise in enzymatic degradation, molecular characterization of biomass polymers, and material formulation. The IndBio division boasts state-of-the-art infrastructure aligned with the project's objectives, and collaborations with other divisions at Chalmers will ensure access to all necessary facilities for comprehensive research and innovation.QualificationsThe successful candidate must have a PhD degree in Biotechnology, Food Chemistry or similar. The candidate must have experience and high developed skills in biomass valorization, characterization and application, and experience in performing deep glycomic analysis is adventageous. Laboratory experience in biomass transformation in high value compounds for food or cosmetic applications is meritorious but most importantly a good track record of experience in multidisciplinary work.
