The Research Foundation for Mental Hygiene is seeking a qualified full-time Postdoctoral Research Scientist position for the Division of Systems Neuroscience at the New York State Psychiatric Institute. The chosen candidate will be studying the role of serotonin in emotional behavior. They will be involved in managing a mouse colony, imaging neural activity with calcium imaging, and preparing brains for histology.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- The candidate will conduct all parts of the experiments, including animal behavior, in vivo imaging, optogenetic neural manipulation, and data analysis.
- The candidate will also be involved in the support of research, including manuscripts and grant submissions.
- The candidate may also supervise research technicians and undergraduate volunteers.
Minimum Qualifications:
- A PhD in neuroscience or other relevant fields and (2) years of postdoctoral experience.
- (2) years of experience with in vivo calcium imaging of neuronal activity.
- (1) year of experience with whole brain clearing methods and light sheet imaging.
- (2) years of experience with emotional behavior research in mouse models.
- (2) years of in proficiency in MATLAB.
Qualifications:
- (2) years of proficiency in Python.
