Description Division : Power Supply Summary Description: The Power Grid Security joins the NCEMC ERO Compliance Team responsible for ensuring compliance with regulatory reliability requirements. As an owner, operator, and user of the North American Bulk Electric System, NCEMC is subject to mandatory and enforceable reliability requirements covering cybersecurity, physical security, maintenance and testing, emergency operations and planning, facility ratings, vegetation management, and protection system coordination. The primary project for the will be to assist the NCEMC GridEx Planning Team in its efforts to plan and facilitate NC electric cooperative participation in the grid security exercise GridEx VIII. During the summer months, the planning team will be deeply involved in designing scenarios based on the objectives provided by NCEMC leadership and member cooperative planners. The will have the opportunity to learn about multiple facets of our industry including cybersecurity, physical security, emergency response, , transmission, and distribution. They will assist in developing hypothetical physical and cyber-attacks on the grid through organizing and developing NCEMC's Master Scenario Event List (MSEL) and drafting detailed scenarios to be used during the exercise. Academic and Trade Qualifications: Pursuing an Engineering, IT, Communications, Business, or Legal related degree with a desire to problem solve; ideally the student should be entering their Junior or Senior level course work. Work Experience: Experience working in an office environment is desirable. Responsibilities: Reliability Compliance Assist NCEMC GridEx Planning Team with preparation for participation in GridEx VIII. Develop specific content to be used in the exercise including emails, screenshots, and social media content. Develop written narratives for the overall exercise. Attend meetings with NCEMC's member cooperatives to develop scenarios to meet their objectives. Organize documentation in SharePoint including the Master Scenario Event List in excel. Develop training materials for GridEx participants. Assist Manager of Reliability Compliance with tracking NERC Reliability Standards development. Job Knowledge: A basic knowledge of the electric utility industry is desirable. Abilities and Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office products including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint is required. Knowledge of SharePoint is a plus. Perform well both individually and within a team. Strong communications skills with an emphasis on developing presentations and reports. Self-starter who is highly motivated and proactive that works well individually as well as collaboratively Task-oriented with a high attention to detail Relationships and Contacts: Reports to the Manager of Reliability Compliance as a member of the Energy Delivery group in Power Supply. Working Conditions: Normal office conditions with occasional visits to member cooperatives and generating plants.
