Principal Civil Strutural Engineer

Westlakes Recruit are currently recruiting for a Principal Civil & Structural Engineer with a background in the nuclear sector to be engaged on a permanent basis; the role offers flexible hybrid working with a base in the North West ideally, either West Cumbria or Manchester.


The role is to join an existing well established civil/structural team and to be responsible for the delivery of complex design packages for key nuclear clients.


This is a senior/lead level role on projects and the individual must be able to demonstrate strong capabilities in becoming a civil / structural lead that can contribute to multi-disciplinary design delivery, with minimal oversight.

Ability to manage and motivate a team and demonstrate good leadership qualities. Self-motivated and able to work both freely as well as within a larger multi-discipline team.


Excellent team player, able to collaborate effectively with market colleagues, other wider-business colleagues, and the management team.


You should have experience and a level of expertise in engineering design and substantiation, including first principles analysis, with a good knowledge of UK and International design codes and industry regulations. A preference would be to have previous experience in the nuclear sector, although this is not a requirement.


Candidates to be an Incorporated Engineer or working towards chartership with a recognised institution such as The Institution of Civil Engineers and / or The Institution of Structural Engineers and hold a minimum engineering degree qualification (accredited by the Institution of Civil Engineers or the Institution of Structural Engineers, or other recognised body).For more information on this role or to register your interest for future job updates, please visit
