Principal Conservation Officer, Environment and Science

As a PO4 Principal Conservation Officer, you will work within a diverse team of experienced professionals responsible for undertaking experimental research to develop and communicate evidence to assist the recovery of terrestrial threatened species, and management of their threats. You will have good ecological field skills and are experienced at undertaking experimental research at relevant scales to determine how to best manage threats and facilitate recovery of threatened species.You are a team player, who will work with staff from across the unit as well as regularly engage and build relationships with other departmental units, government agencies, research institutions, Traditional Owners, natural resource management groups, non-government organisations and species experts.You will be required to draw on your ecological expertise and experience in experimental design to deliver robust research, and manage projects from planning through to delivery, so good time, budget and process and reporting skills are required.To be successful in this position you must have:• Experience in undertaking research projects related to threatened species management or assessing effectiveness of conservation management.- The work we do aims to provide robust evidence to assist the recovery of terrestrial threatened species.
