Principal Engineer - Technical Leader
As part of its growth strategy, our client is looking for an experienced Technical Leader to take charge of the leadership and growth of its risk management & consequence modelling business.
In this role, as a member of the local office senior management team, you will work alongside the General Manager in developing and driving business growth within France and Southern Europe.
You will also have the opportunity to contribute significantly towards the companies Group activities. This will provide you with the opportunity to extend your role and develop your career further supporting the companies strategic global agenda.

You
To be successful in the role, you must have
- an engineering diploma or Master’s in a STEM subject (Chemical or Mechanical Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, or other natural sciences).
- 7 years of experience, as a minimum, in risk analysis, qualitative and quantitative risk assessments for industrial purposes
- significant experience working in a consulting environment within the following disciplines:
- Process safety studies (HAZID and HAZOP, FMEA, RAM, SIL, LOPA, AMDEC)
- ATEX / DSEAR / COMAH / SEVESO / LUP compliance knowledge,
- Deep knowledge and understanding of phenomenological models,
- Relevant experience in advanced consequence modelling & QRA (2D or 3D tools),
- full professional proficiency and fluency in French (both written and verbal)
- proficiency in English (both written and verbal, for general business communication as well as technical reports),
The role
Reporting directly to the Managing Director, your capabilities will evolve within an agile and experienced team keen to develop new skills.
You will be predominantly responsible for:
- Ensuring the delivery of impeccable quality in project work to our clients
Defining project scope with clients,
- Managing clients’ expectations, scope creep, project profitability and resourcing,
- Managing the end-to-end lifecycle of medium to large size contracts or frame agreements
- Leading and performing process risk and hazard assessments, hazardous area classifications, hazard analysis techniques
- Representing the business in front of the entire client portfolio, acting as a key account manager for major customers in France and where relevant also in Europe.
- Supporting the development and growth of the companies Process Safety Management business,
- Acting as a catalyst for marketing/sales work
- Identifying and leading commercial opportunities & bids
- Presenting at and attending relevant conferences
- Keeping up to date with regulations identifying the risks for the companies present and potential activities in the region due to any regulatory changes and guiding the business in the light of these changes.
- Developing and publishing methodologies, white papers, journal articles or blogs in social media to enhance our reputation as knowledge leaders.
- Supporting the implementation of the QHSE policy, standards (including ISO standards) and culture.
