Principal Environmental Health Enforcement Officer

We are looking for a highly skilled Principal Housing Enforcement Officer to join a forward-thinking housing enforcement team based in a vibrant London borough. In this role, you'll be a vital part of the council's Regulatory Services, focusing on maintaining housing standards, ensuring safety, and enforcing regulations within the private rented sector. This role offers the opportunity to make a significant impact on public health and safety by guiding enforcement processes, providing expert advice, and mentoring junior officers.

The Role


·You will be responsible for enforcement under the Housing Act 2004, carrying out detailed inspections.


·Carry out HHSRS assessments.


·Produce schedule of works.


·Liaise with other departments, legal counsel, the Fire Brigade and all interested parties.


·Handle complex cases, prepare legal documentation, and act as an expert witness in court proceedings when necessary.

The Ideal Candidate


·Must have experience, knowledge and qualifications relating to environmental health, fire safety and cladding remediation.


·Excellent Organisation skills with the ability to prioritise work to meet deadlines, and a concern for order and accuracy.


·Extensive experience of working within the Building Safety environment.


·Evidence of having an appreciation of the current issues facing building safety, specifically to the multi-occupied residential building


·Collaboration & Communication: Able to build productive relationships with key stakeholders, work independently, and manage team objectives effectively.


·JIT training and experience is desirable.


·HHSRS is highly desirable
