Principal Program Officer, Environment and Science

A key part of your role will be developing best practice compliance and while the position is based in Brisbane, you will be regularly involved in field-based activities.Whilst undertaking this role, you will : -• Lead, manage and oversight the compliance related operations of a multidisciplinary team undertaking a range of tasks and activities including field work, particularly directed towards wongari (dingo) management:o compliance activities and environmental risks to visitors, key industry stakeholders and managemento delivery of compliance training with particular emphasis on wongari (dingo) related compliance activitieso a range of compliance related projects to support continual improvement and efficiencies in business practice,o compliance related processes and systems with a focus on customer service delivery and the implementation of legislative and reform agendas, strategies and initiatives.o Assign compliance related work in consultation with Coastal &Island Region as required to achieve statutory, administrative and/or other agreed timeframes by assessing the degree of risk and complexity of each work request and contribute to operational performance by monitoring and assessing individual and team activity levels and reviewing work output to ensure consistency with contemporary Administrative Decision Making Principles.• Provide expert advice, guidance and direction to the team, managing escalated and/or more technically complex and contentious compliance related issues, for the development and endorsement of approaches and/or options for approval by the delegate.• Represent QPWS&P's objectives in technically complex stakeholder and customer negotiations relating to wongari (dingo)compliance and communicate with influence to contribute to the resolution of contentious matters.• Review the preparation of, and/or prepare timely and well-researched briefs, ministerial and executive correspondence, submissions, publications, and other correspondence on compliance related issues.• Liaise, consult, coordinate and work collaboratively with business groups within DES and coordinate with other government departments as necessary, to support the implementation of compliance related legislative, policy and operational delivery.• Review and implement approved local practices, systems and processes and implement workplace initiatives, strategies, policies and guidelines, including Workplace Health and Safety to enable the team to meet its objectives and communicate changes with the team to ensure team members are aware of their obligations.• Manage work relationships to encourage cooperation and build capability through encouraging sharing of individual experiences, learnings and explaining delegate decisions, and by identifying opportunities for professional development and mentoring.• Foster a workplace culture that supports and promotes the interests of First Nations people and actively engage through our work to contribute to better outcomes for First Nations people.Applications will remain current for 12 months
