Engineering designs our next- hydrogen electric engines. Working across Hydrogen, Propulsion and Integration divisions, they solve technical problems and help decarbonize aviation by finding solutions for electric propulsion, hydrogen storage, fuel cell technology, power distribution, thermal management and more.

Requirements

Responsibilities

  • Planning and conducting qualitative and quantitative safety assessment process in accordance with ARP4761 including System Safety Program Plan, Functional Hazard Assessments, Preliminary System Safety Assessments, Common Mode Analyses, Fault Tree Analysis, Safety Assessment Reports and System Safety Assessments.
  • Work with Cross functional teams including mechanical, system and software teams to define system safety requirements throughout the development process
  • Generating safety requirements for the Electric Propulsion System (EPS) and working across the organization collaboratively to ensure compliance.
  • Review design documentation and data to identify and assess safety critical equipment and components.
  • Mentor and train less experienced system safety engineers and provide review for analysis work of peer safety engineers.
  • Support regulatory and advisory reviews of safety analysis and facilitate information sharing to internal leadership and stakeholders collaboratively.
  • Clearly and objectively communicate technical risks and findings to leadership and stakeholders.

Requirements

  • B.S. Degree in Aerospace, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering or similar in Engineering or Mathematics.
  • M.S. Degree in Aerospace, Mechanical, or Electrical engineering or similar in Engineering or Mathematics.
  • Knowledge of aircraft and electronic hardware systems.
  • Experience preparing and presenting technical information to peers, internal management, and stakeholders in a concise and understandable way.
  • Proficient with coordination of complex engineering activities while balancing priorities and schedules, including efficient time management and working independently.
  • Product Functional Safety Experience in an aerospace environment with working knowledge of ARP4761.

Desired Software Proficiencies:

  • Polarion, Isograph Reliability Workbench, including Fault Trees and FMEA Prediction Software.
  • Working knowledge of ARP4754A, DO-254, and DO-178C.
  • Advanced knowledge of Reliability Engineering Theory.
  • Recognized technical expert in aviation reliability.
  • Working knowledge of aviation propulsion systems.
  • Working knowledge of power electronics, design, and safety systems.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, as well as good written and oral communication skills.
  • Excellent level of spoken and written English (additional a plus).
  • Ability to work on own initiative as well as part of a small team

Physical Requirements

  • Standing/Sitting: Must be able to remain in a stationary position for [50]% of the time.
  • Walking: Needs to occasionally move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc.
  • Lifting/Carrying: Frequently moves equipment weighing up to 50 pounds across campus for various needs.
  • Reaching: Must be able to reach overhead and below the waist.
  • Fine Motor Skills: Ability to operate a computer and other office productivity machinery.
  • Gross Motor Skills: Ability to grasp, hold, or turn large objects.
  • Visual Acuity: Must be able to detect and recognize objects at a distance.
  • Hearing: Must be able to communicate with colleagues and clients.
  • Speaking: Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations.

Benefits

The wage scale or salary range for this position is $150,000.00-$190,000.00. In addition to the foregoing base compensation, additional compensation and benefits are available to employees and eligible family members (as applicable) including the following:
