Process Engineer
Job Summary The Process Engineer is responsible for process improvement, standard cost and production variance analysis. Maintaining and setting process parameters in order to safeguard Quality Standards and Cost efficiency. Responsible for process testing plan and procedure, data analysis, and communication of results. Primary contact with Manufacturing and R&D for writing and communication of production specifications. Requires three plus years direct, relevant experience with the ability to operate with little to no direction. Essential Functions Monitors and revises processes to help generate cost savings and improve the quality and efficiency of products/processes. Analyze data and initiate corrective actions for production related improvements. Maintain and adjust process parameters in the ERP system. Documentation and preparation of production specifications for manufacturing Avient products. Investigation of production cost variances and root cause analysis. Coordinates with R&D partners to establish quality and testing conditions for established Avient products. Participates in resolution of plant production issues including troubleshooting. Utilizes proven project management methods and skills to plan and execute a full range of project sizes and scopes, which may include capital. Identify and implement improvement suggestions for extruder lines and associated equipment. Commissioning of new lines including training documentation and instruction. Ability to provide coverage, when necessary, on the off shifts for new product scale ups, trials or other engineering related improvements. Participates in site’s safety programs. Other duties as assigned Education and Experience Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Engineering, Chemical/Mechanical Engineering or related field 3 – 5 years’ experience within an operational/process engineering capacity ideally within the Chemicals/Polymer industry, specializing in compounding and extrusion. Continuous improvement/lean six sigma experience preferred. The noise level in the work environment ranges from normal office noise levels to loud.
