About the Role:
Our client is seeking a Process Engineer with hands-on mechanical expertise to lead projects in equipment upgrades, installations, and process optimization for their thermoforming processes. This role is critical in launching new products and equipment while driving efficiency improvements in a dynamic manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead new product launches and manage capital equipment projects from concept to implementation, including vendor coordination and installation oversight.
- Optimize thermoforming and extrusion processes to ensure quality and maximize throughput.
- Develop and maintain process parameters, operator training materials, and setup documentation to improve changeovers and operational consistency.
- Collaborate with T&D Engineers to evaluate resin and material capabilities for new product development.
- Troubleshoot and resolve manufacturing process issues to improve equipment performance and product quality.
- Mentor and train Extrusion and Thermoforming Operators to develop a skilled and efficient workforce.
- Conduct new material evaluation trials and provide management insights on equipment, processes, and technology opportunities.
- Occasionally travel to support and train teams at other facilities with thermoforming processes.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering (BSME ) or a minimum of 5 years of experience in thermoforming or a related field.
- Proven experience in project management and equipment installations.
- Hands-on mechanical background, with strong aptitude for equipment troubleshooting and optimization.
- Familiarity with thermoforming and extrusion processes, including process setup, maintenance, and operator training.
- Strong leadership, communication, and team-building skills.
- Ability to read blueprints, interpret technical documents, and present information to diverse audiences.
- Proficiency in process improvement tools such as Lean and Six Sigma is a plus.
