Position: Process Engineer – Injection Molding
Status: Fulltime, Exempt
Location: Savannah, GA
Company Overview:
Seoyon E-HWA, a leader in the automotive interior parts manufacturing industry, is seeking a skilled and motivated Process Engineer to join our team. This role will focus on optimizing and improving the injection molding processes used in the production of high-quality automotive interior components. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in injection molding technology, process optimization, and a proven ability to drive continuous improvement initiatives. The Process Engineer will work closely with production teams, quality control, and R&D to ensure efficient and effective manufacturing processes, while maintaining the highest quality standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop, implement, and optimize injection molding processes to produce automotive interior parts, ensuring efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and high-quality output.
- Collaborate with design and production teams to review product designs and recommend modifications for manufacturability and cost reduction.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to injection molding machines, tooling, and materials to minimize downtime and ensure smooth operations.
- Conduct mold trials, monitor machine performance, analyze data to improve cycle times, reduce scrap, and enhance product quality.
- Establish and maintain process parameters, including temperature, pressure, and cycle times, for each injection molding project.
- Work closely with the quality control team to ensure that products meet all required specifications and industry standards.
- Lead process validation activities, including conducting trials, analyzing results, and providing recommendations for process adjustments.
- Monitor and evaluate key performance indicators (KPIs) related to the injection molding process, including production efficiency, material usage, and quality.
- Implement and support continuous improvement initiatives using methodologies such as Six Sigma, Lean, or Kaizen.
- Assist with the selection and specification of new molding machines, tools, and materials based on production needs.
- Provide technical support and training to production operators on process improvements, machine operation, and troubleshooting.
- Participate in the design and implementation of new processes for the introduction of new products or product modifications.
- Ensure adherence to safety, environmental, and regulatory guidelines during all phases of production.
- Support cost reduction efforts by identifying areas for material and energy savings and process optimization.
- Prepare and maintain detailed documentation of processes, changes, and technical data related to injection molding.
- Work cross-functionally with other departments, including Maintenance, Quality, and R&D, to meet production goals and resolve any technical challenges.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, Industrial Engineering, Plastics Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience as a Process Engineer in an injection molding environment, preferably within the automotive or manufacturing industry.
- Strong knowledge of injection molding principles, equipment, tooling, and materials, with experience in automotive interior parts production a plus.
- Proven experience with process optimization, cycle time reduction, and cost-saving initiatives.
- Familiarity with quality control techniques, including SPC (Statistical Process Control), FMEA (Failure Mode and Effects Analysis), and root cause analysis.
- Proficiency in CAD software and process simulation tools for mold design and process analysis.
- Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify and resolve complex technical issues quickly and effectively.
- Experience with continuous improvement methodologies such as Six Sigma, Lean, or Kaizen.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality work.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
- Knowledge of industry safety standards and best practices.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand, walk, and move around the plant floor for extended periods.
- Ability to lift and carry materials up to 30 lbs.
- Ability to work in an industrial manufacturing environment with exposure to machinery and production equipment.
Work Environment:
- Manufacturing facility with exposure to injection molding machines, tooling, and materials.
- Personal protective equipment (PPE) is required, including safety glasses, gloves, and steel-toed boots.
