Process Engineer (Automotive Manufacturing)

Responsible for evaluating existing processes and configuring automotive assembly manufacturing systems to reduce cost, improve sustainability and develop best practices within the production process.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
This is a position which represents the attainment of specialized knowledge in breadth and depth. Associate applies knowledge and experience to complex situations and problems and provides solutions to issues. Associate performs independently and uses experience to guide actions. Associate may also mentor less experienced colleagues.
- Support automotive assembly manufacturing for Continuous Improvement, quality issues on the floor, new launches, engineering changes and Lessons Learned
- Development and implementation of process control techniques and procedures
- Analysis of automotive assembly manufacturing Processes (Process sheets, Assembly Fixtures, Facility Requirements, etc.)
- Change and Create documentation of automotive assembly manufacturing Processes
- Time Studies and Line Balancing depicting automotive assembly manufacturing Processes
- Quality Control and Corrective actions
- Bill of Materials – Maintaining and Re-Structuring for automotive assembly fixtures
- Routings and Time associated to Piece Parts, Weldments, and/or Assemblies
- Capable of analyzing CMM reports for automotive assemblies, adjust assembly fixture based of analysis
- Confer with design engineering and purchasing in determining product specifications
- Develop and implement systems that optimize all phases of production process
- Conduct Root-Cause Analysis
- Determine Quality of Product by Quality of Design, Quality of Process and Quality of Conformance
- Review designs for automotive assembly manufacturing feasibility, suggest changes to the design to ensure product cost effectiveness
- Good working relationship and effective communication skills with vendors, team members, suppliers, and project teams
- Apply and utilize automotive assembly manufacturing best practice for efficiency, quality, safety and capability
- Completion of miscellaneous duties and projects as directed by your manager

Work Environment
Work environment characteristics are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Employees also may be subject to certain environments such as working near loud moving mechanical parts. Safety
The noise level in the working environment will be heavy with high traffic. Ear protection will be required. PPEs (personal protective equipment) must be worn at all times when working on the manufacturing floor. Gloves must be worn if handling BIW stampings or assemblies.

Education/Experience/Certifications:
To effectively carry out duties and responsibilities in the job position the following education, experience, or certifications are preferred:
Education:
- ·Bachelor’s degree (B.S.) from a four-year college or university required
Experience:
- Eight or more years of related technical, hands-on experience in automotive manufacturing required
- Ten or more years of engineering work experience in automotive manufacturing with steel stamping and assembly preferred
Additional Skills Required:
To effectively carry out duties and responsibilities in the job position the following skills are required
Computer skills:
- Applicant must have basic computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
- Experience in AutoCAD, Inventor or Solidworks or equivalent design programs a plus
- Working knowledge of Allen Bradley PLC hardware and RSLogix 5000 programming would be beneficial
Communication skills:
- Speak effectively with fellow employees or customers
- Read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals, etc.
- Interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form
Mathematical skills:
- Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations
Other Skills:
- Organized and able to meet deadlines while performing multiple duties
- Solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists
- Working knowledge of appropriate mechanical NAAMS standards, and industry practices
- Excellent "hands on" electrical/mechanical aptitude
- Knowledge of machine guarding components; high level of safety awareness (RIA and OSHA)
- Knowledge of ANSI standards for presses and assembly machines
- Knowledge of factory information system
- Specialized knowledge of the following electrical/mechanical components
