Starting salary $65,000.00 Annually
OT pay for any hours over 40 within a week.

Position Summary
The purpose of this position is to provide engineering support to the production department in order to implement process improvements (cost reduction, quality improvement, reduce downtime, improve tooling & equipment, etc.). This position is also responsible for designing and developing new products and bringing them into mass production.
Technical Skill Requirements:
1. AS Degree in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering or other technical degree or equivalent professional experience
2. 2-4 years experience in manufacturing engineering, preferably in an automotive components industry
3. Excellent CAD, blueprint reading and computer skills (Microsoft Office)
4. Excellent knowledge of tooling
5. Excellent mechanical abilities
6. Knowledge of rubber, thermoplastic, elastomer and polymer materials
7. Previous experience in rubber compounding or extrusion processing preferred
8. Excellent troubleshooting skills
9. Excellent documentation skills
10. Excellent mathematical aptitude and analytical thinking
11. Knowledge of Toyota Production System principles

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
1. Provide Engineering support to Production Department
a. Troubleshooting of equipment, tooling, materials and processing issues
b. Continuous improvement for Production processes and quality
c. Obtain quotes for tooling and equipment
d. Order and develop new tooling and equipment
e. Analyze scrap and labor and recommend countermeasures
f. Update Production documentation
g. Analyze incoming chemicals and compounds and administer testing
h. R&D on compounds
i. Work on cost savings initiatives
j. Administer training
k. Generate reports (scrap, capacity, etc.)
l. Assure safety procedures followed
2. New Product Development
a. Complete Engineering estimates
b. Obtain quotes
c. Order tooling and equipment
d. Maintain all necessary documentation
e. Design product
f. Trial builds and implementation
Other Duties and Responsibilities
1. Other projects and duties, as assigned
Environment and Conditions
Contacts
The incumbent spends approximately 15-50% of his/her time developing and maintaining business contacts within the organization and up to 15% of his/her time with external contacts. The purpose of these contacts is to discuss production issues, to discuss development of new products, tooling, machines and processes, to request quotes, to discuss part costs, to discuss quality issues, to conduct on-line trials, to order tooling and equipment and to discuss vendor materials.
Working Conditions
This position works in an open office environment and on the production floor. Exposure to weather elements is not likely. Incumbents are not likely to drive a vehicle while performing job responsibilities. Incumbents spend approximately 45% sitting, 35% standing and 20% walking in the course of this position and are unlikely to lift anything greater than 80 pounds. Incumbents will use the following office machines while performing job duties: computer, printer, copier, fax, telephone, digital camera, scale, calculator, Autocad and the equipment on the plant floor.
