PROCESS SAFETY ENGINEER

Process Safety EngineerGSC R&D Engineering Services provides Facilities Management and Capital Projects delivery for Technical R&D sites within GSC’s Engineering and EHS organisation.The primary purpose of the process safety engineer role is to provide on-going engineering support for managing infrastructure systems at the U.K R&D Sites. The role will manage consistent execution and ensure compliance within the mechanical engineering programmes across the site through provision of engineering and project management skills. The role will also support consistent delivery of facilities, engineering service and engineering compliance for EHS critical mechanical systems, including high hazard utilities such as boilers and bulk gases. Champion a consistent approach for managing the assessment and mitigation of high hazard utility and mechanical systems using a process safety methodology (e.g. Hazard Identification HAZID, HAZOP, What If, Process Hazard Analysis).Drive continuous improvement by identifying opportunities to improve safety and hierarchy of controls. Facilitate frequent walkthroughs (i.e., GEMBA) within the facilities involving SMEs in site operations, R&D business, and service partners.Act as technical engineering representative on capital projects to ensure projects are designed, modified, and delivered in accordance with external and internal GSK engineering/EHS standards.Support GSK 2030 Net Zero Carbon Initiatives and build relationships with key R&D customers to support R&D delivery and be ambitious for our patientsOversee and partner with our contracted service partners to deliver engineering services inline with GSK requirementsQualifications & Skills:We are looking for professionals with these required skills to achieve our goals:Hold a degree in Mechanical / Process Engineering or Building ServicesExperience with industrial engineering systems such as HVAC, steam and pressure systemsExperience with engineering safety management e.g supporting hazard identifications (HAZID), engineering risk assessments, hierarchy of control reviewsExperience in engineering or operations in the pharmaceutical, manufacturing, or other large, regulated industry.Aspiration to gain Professional Chartered Engineer status with a recognised instituteDrive to progress into a leadership/senior technical position within GSKPreferred Qualifications & Skills:If you have the following characteristics, it would be a plus:Displays knowledge of the Research & Development process and understands GxP requirements.Ability to understand and apply engineering principles and standards to a site.Ability to establish strong working relationships with key external contract partners, to deliver appropriate site services in agreement with established contracts.Strong ability to act as a motivator of change.Excellent interpersonal, presentation and persuasive skills to successfully interact with managers at all levels and the ability to manage internal relations with site customer base. Why GSK?
