JOB DESCRIPTION: Product Development Engineer

Location – Caldwell, ID / Onsite

Report to- Director of Engineering

Specific Job Function:

We are seeking a highly skilled and innovative Product Development Engineer to join our team in advancing innovative water filtration technologies. As an Engineer in our water filtration manufacturing division, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and optimizing water filtration systems to meet industry standards and address emerging market needs. Your expertise will contribute to creating high-performance, sustainable, and cost-effective filtration solutions.

Responsibilities:

  • Research & Development: Lead and contribute to research projects focused on new water filtration technologies, materials, and processes. Identify opportunities for innovation and improvement in existing filtration systems.
  • Design & Prototyping: Develop detailed designs and prototypes for new filtration products. Utilize CAD software and other engineering tools to create and evaluate new concepts.
    • Prepare 3D models and 2D drawing required to complete project.
    • Fabricate 3D printing and prototyping to assist in the NPD process.
    • Independently analyze design problems and troubleshoot complex mechanical issues to determine the root cause and implement corrective actions.
    • Independently design test fixtures for new products or component validation and our production
    • Develop and present comprehensive, accurate and detailed technical reports supporting testing or analytical analyses.
  • Testing & Analysis: Conduct experiments and rigorous testing to evaluate the performance, durability, and efficiency of filtration systems. Analyze data and interpret results to inform design modifications and improvements.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including manufacturing, quality assurance, and supply chain, to ensure seamless integration of innovative technologies into production processes.
    • To consult with toolmakers to ensure that project activities are completed on time and on budget.
    • Assist in identification of potential new component suppliers.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Collaborate with team to ensure that all new products and processes comply with industry regulations and standards, including safety, environmental, and performance criteria.
  • Documentation: Maintain thorough and accurate documentation of design processes, experimental results, and technical reports. Prepare and present findings to stakeholders and management.
    • Ensure that changes to Engineering drawing and 3D files are carried out in accordance with documented procedures.
  • Problem-Solving: Address technical challenges and provide innovative solutions to optimize product performance and resolve issues in the development and manufacturing phases.
  • Market Research: Stay informed about industry trends, competitor products, and emerging technologies. Use this knowledge to guide research priorities and product development strategies.

Requirements:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, or a related field.
  • Experience: Minimum of 3 years of experience in R&D or Engineering, within the water filtration or related industry. Experience with membrane technologies, adsorption materials, or filtration media is highly desirable.
  • 2+ years of experience creating complex 3-D models/assemblies, and accurately detailed 2-D drawings (with GD&T) using Creo, SolidWorks, or similar software.
  • Able to perform and utilize mechanical design hand calculations (material stress, deflection, forces, moments, fluid flow rates, pressure, O-ring squeeze) for upfront analyses to quick guide the direction of design work.
