Position Summary:

AMF is looking for a Production Engineer to lead efficiency and quality improvements for the Workhorse Richmond Assembly operation.

The scope of this role has a focus on operational excellence, which includes supporting the engineering and operation teams with project execution; project planning, floor preparation, flow of materials and information in & out and developing standards for on-time delivery and high quality.

The role will report to the Operations Manager.

How you will impact AMF:


  • Collaborate with engineering on design improvements that will affect build time and product quality.
  • Review and ensure Bills of Materials (BOMs) for the machine/system design are correct
  • Collaborate with production planning to improve production BOMs for future builds
  • Support quality inspection and management system development.
  • Prepare content for pre and post-assembly meetings. Drive improvements.
  • Drive improvements to part shortages at machine build start. Address parts delivery problems and identify countermeasures
  • Support "Configure to Order" efforts with engineering
  • Support R&D efforts as needed
  • Become proficient in Solid Edge as an acting "drafter in training"
  • Update designs using Bluestar as opportunities arise
  • Support day-to-day shop leadership through problem-solving leading and participation
  • Collaborate with internal and external assembly activities to ensure on-time delivery and quality sub-projects.
  • Travel 5-10% for customer support
  • A stretch goal for this role would include managing outside assembly shop activities, including the single point of contact, OTD, quality, scheduling, and cost management



What you need to succeed:


  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Experience with technical documentation, including equipment manuals and bulletins
  • Knowledge of AutoCAD, proficiency in any 3D modeling applications (i.e., Solid Edge/Solid Works/Inventor), Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel
  • Basic project management skills with the ability to manage multiple processes simultaneously.
  • Excellent organizational, oral, & written communication skills & Proven problem-solving skills
  • Team-oriented approach to problem-solving
  • Comfortable with working in a fast-paced environment on multiple projects
  • Basic tools (not required) are a plus
  • Willingness to work both on the assembly floor and in an office environment
