About the Role:
We are actively hiring an experienced and hands-on Equipment Setup Supervisor (2nd Shift) for our client in Northvale, NJ. This direct hire role plays a key part in ensuring timely and efficient equipment setups and changeovers during overnight production operations. You'll supervise a team of setup technicians, uphold safety and quality standards, and drive improvements across the setup process.
Key Responsibilities: Supervision of Setup Operations:

Plan, coordinate, and execute equipment setup and changeover tasks according to production schedules.

Assign and prioritize work for setup technicians to meet daily and weekly production targets.

Supervise ongoing setup activities and intervene when necessary to maintain progress and minimize delays.
Equipment and Technical Oversight:

Ensure machinery is properly assembled, calibrated, and maintained during each setup or changeover.

Identify and troubleshoot equipment issues and coordinate with the Maintenance Department for timely resolution.

Maintain detailed and accurate documentation of setup procedures, adjustments, and changeover processes.
Team Leadership & Development:

Lead, train, and mentor a team of setup technicians in proper procedures and safety practices.

Conduct performance evaluations, provide constructive feedback, and support professional development.

Promote teamwork and a culture of accountability and continuous improvement within the department.

Schedule technician shifts and ensure adequate staffing coverage across all production lines.
Quality Assurance & Safety Compliance:

Ensure all equipment setups meet established quality specifications and operational requirements.

Conduct routine safety checks and audits; ensure compliance with OSHA and internal safety regulations.

Enforce proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and other safety protocols.

Immediately address any unsafe behavior or equipment malfunctions that could pose a risk.
Collaboration & Production Support:

Work cross-functionally with Production, Maintenance, QA, and Sanitation teams to ensure seamless operations.

Identify and implement improvements to reduce setup times and optimize production flow.

Serve as a technical resource to resolve setup-related production issues quickly and efficiently.
Documentation & Reporting:

Maintain accurate records for all setup activities, equipment changes, downtime events, and technician performance.

Generate and submit setup productivity reports, improvement plans, and performance summaries to management.

Ensure compliance with company SOPs and industry standards for documentation and reporting.
Required Skills & Qualifications: Education:
-
High school diploma or GED required.
-
Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Industrial Technology .
Experience:
-
3 5 years of experience in equipment setup, changeover, or machine operation in a manufacturing or production environment.

Prior experience in a supervisory or team lead role required.
-
Exposure to lean manufacturing or continuous improvement practices is advantageous.
Technical Skills:
-
Proficient in reading mechanical/electrical schematics, blueprints, and production specifications.

Hands-on experience with mechanical systems, industrial machinery, and tools.

Ability to troubleshoot setup issues related to conveyors, pumps, motors, and other production equipment.

Familiarity with CMMS or equipment tracking systems and Microsoft Office Suite.

Qualifications:

Technical certifications (e.g., in Industrial Maintenance, Mechatronics, or Electrical Systems).

Prior experience working with industry-specific machinery (e.g., mixers, pumps, conveyors, depositors).

Forklift certification or knowledge of industrial material handling equipment.
