Mfg-Production Planner
Job Summary:
The Production Planner reviews existing production demand summarized in backlog reports and sales orders, schedules work orders and dispatches service purchase orders and coordinates any other activity so that customer demand will be satisfied in an efficient and timely manner.
Functions:
Schedules daily activity on the production floor to support shipping dates.
Coordinates with all appropriate departments to satisfy customer demand and ship dates.
Responsible for coordinating activity to support monthly and annual shipping goals.
Performs service purchase order dispatching for any outside services required.
Performs move-on of work orders when required to ensure continuity of the work order.
Performs work order splits when deemed appropriate to satisfy customer needs.
Reviews and becomes familiar with requirements, drawings, and other documents concerning parts on the production floor.
Confers with department leads to determine status of parts and machines.
Dynamically alters schedules to meet unforeseen circumstances.
Coordinates with appropriate departments to resolve any quality or timeliness issues that may occur on the production floor.
Inform sales of any production issues that will affect the ship date of a sales order.
May prepare lists and purchase orders of required materials, tools, and equipment.
Other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, skills, and abilities:
Ability to use a computer and common office software.
Ability to prioritize and execute multiple tasks.
Good organization and planning skills.
Ability to read and interpret blueprints to the extent required to communicate with shop floor.
Good verbal and written communications skills.
Understanding of processes to the extent of knowing what is required to satisfy ship dates.
