JOB SUMMARY

The Production Planning Supervisor is responsible for executing, overseeing, and optimizing the production schedule to ensure timely and efficient manufacturing operations. This role involves coordinating with various departments, optimizing production schedules, forecasting production needs, and addressing any issues that may arise in the production workflow to meet customer demands and company objectives.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The following represents a list of essential duties and responsibilities. Other duties may be assigned or re-assigned as the Manufacturing Facility expands.

  • Develop and manage production schedules to meet customer demand while optimizing the use of resources and minimizing downtime
  • Supervise and mentor a team of process planners, providing guidance and support to ensure high performance and professional growth
  • Adjust schedules as needed based on changes in demand, production capacity, and resource availability
  • Monitor and manage inventory levels of finished goods.
  • Work with the procurement team to ensure timely replenishment and minimize stockouts or excess inventory.
  • Coordinate with manufacturing teams to allocate resources effectively, including labor, machinery, and materials. Identify and resolve any potential bottlenecks or constraints in the production process
  • Lead weekly production meeting with manufacturing supervisors
  • Collaborate with manufacturing supervisors to create solutions when problems/delays arise
  • Communicate manufacturing delays to cross-functional teams, including sales, engineering, project management, etc.
  • Analyze production data and performance metrics to identify trends, forecast future production needs, and recommend improvements to enhance efficiency and reduce costs
  • Address and resolve any issues related to production schedules, or supply chain disruptions. Implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams, including sales, engineering, and quality assurance, to align production plans with customer requirements and company goals
  • Prepare and present regular reports on production performance, and schedule adherence to management. Provide insights and recommendations based on data analysis

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

This position supervises process planning employees

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Consistent attendance is expected. Flexibility to respond to troubleshooting issues. Position is office based, also requiring frequent trips and time on shop floor with exposure to noise, dust, fumes and odors may be present. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, etc.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit and/or stand at least 6+ hours per day. The employee will perform data entry and computer functions for long periods of time. Vision and use of hand dexterity for computer activities. May require lifting up to 25 pounds.


POSITION TYPE/EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK

This is a regular Full-Time benefit eligible position. It is Exempt per the Fair Labor Standards Act.

Standard days and office hours but may need to work other hours as needed.


TRAVEL

  • Infrequent, limited travel to Germany may be needed for training purposes


REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Manufacturing, Industrial Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field. 8 years’ experience, or combination of experience and Associate's degree may be considered in lieu of Bachelor’s degree
  • Relevant certifications (e.g., APICS CPIM) are a plus
  • 5+ years of experience in production planning, manufacturing, or supply chain management. Experience in a similar industry is
  • 2 years of supervisory experience
  • Strong understanding of production planning and inventory management principles.
  • Proficiency in production planning software (e.g., ERP systems) and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proven ability to lead, motivate, and develop a team.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic work environment.
