Duties and Responsibilities:
The Production Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the equipment, staff, and processes on the production floor. The incumbent will manage the production team and day-to-day production activities. The Production Supervisor is primarily in charge of ensuring the production floor is operational and maintaining the ongoing production of products that have been scheduled. The incumbent is also responsible for troubleshooting any issues that arise or assigning the appropriate personnel to resolve the issue(s). The role has some autonomy but is focused on the execution of activities, on the production floor, and will adhere to OSHA safety practices and procedures. The Production Supervisor reports directly to the Plant Manager.
Key duties include but not limited to the following:
- Consult daily with operations area personnel to discuss and define operational issues.
- Participate in shift hand-off meetings when possible to ensure information pass-down occurs.
- Determine priorities for the area regarding resources.
- Develop goals and objectives for the area and monitor progress.
- Attend meetings for the Plant Manager in absence when needed. Cover different plant operations during the absence of key team members to ensure smooth operation.
- Lead initiatives associated with safety and environmental. Ensure plant personnel are following all required safety and environmental guidelines. Monitor and track activities in these areas and ensure appropriate resources are available. Investigate all safety incidents for root cause and determine appropriate follow up actions to be taken.
- Ensure that batch correction info, and lab recommendations are known by the production team.
- Lead initiatives involving quality, reduction of process variation and improvement of process capabilities in the Area.
- Develop and implement detailed plans for introduction of new production into operating units to ensure success of operations.
- Work with logistics and maintenance in the planning of unit turnarounds.
- Review capital projects for safety and operability. Issue Process Change Forms to ensure documentation of all changes in the area and follow up to insure closure.
- Ensuring that the flow of resources like raw materials is maintained and that production items are delivered as needed and used properly and efficiently.
- Flexibility and responsiveness for off-shift and emergent issues, on the weekend; 24/7 responsiveness and partnership with Plant management.
Requirements: Skills, Qualifications, Experience, Special Physical Requirements:
- BS degree and/or relevant experience.
- Chemical experience .
- 10 + years manufacturing plant experience. Supervisory experience .
- Experience in plant operations, including quality control, process control, production planning and scheduling.
- Experienced with ISO 9001:2015, ISO 14001, and Responsible Care.
- Familiar with SAP
Must pass Department of Homeland Security background check and pre-placement physical (including respirator) and pre-employment drug-screen.
Incumbent must be authorized to work in the U.S.
