Production Supervisor - Start Up Manufacturing Environment

We offer an exciting and rewarding opportunity for an enterprising manufacturing professional to be part of multiple and related start-up success stories in the biotech and biopharma industries. You will work closely with the founders, who are themselves accomplished entrepreneurs who have successfully launched and scaled-up similar businesses in the past, and who are also actively involved in launching this new enterprise.
The Production Supervisor will be responsible for leading, planning, organizing, and directing all daily activities for three related manufacturing operations in start-up mode. These operations produce various proprietary components and parts for rapidly growing segments of biotech and biopharma processing equipment markets. The products are made from various synthetic polymer and elastomer materials using injection molding processes and equipment, typically manufactured in batch mode.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Plans and directs manufacturing operations. Manages all production activities, including pre-production planning and scheduling.
- Focuses on defining, implementing, and enforcing safety, quality and other operating procedures and practices.
- Plays lead role in preparing quotations for customers (in coordination with company President) and processing customer orders.
- Maintain lead responsibility for supply chain and inventory management.
- Develops, implements, and enforces operating methods and procedures designed to eliminate errors and inefficiencies, to lower costs, and to improve product quality and revenue.
- Provides leadership and management to production personnel. This includes training, developing/coaching, disciplining, setting performance expectations and goals, monitoring, appraising and motivating the workforce to attain high levels of performance, achievement and retention.
- Assumes responsibility for monitoring and maintaining all production equipment, including injection molding machines, clean room and other assets.
- Develops and recommends operating improvements as they relate to facilities, equipment, employees, and procedures utilized by the operations.
Required Experience and Qualifications
- Proven experience in a similar operational role. Must possess a passion for driving operational excellence.
- Preferable manufacturing background, with some knowledge and familiarity with injection molding processes and equipment and/or biotech/pharma industries & markets.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, rapidly evolving start-up environment. Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and multiple projects simultaneously.
- Can lift up to 50 pounds
- Demonstrated experience in optimizing operational processes, driving efficiencies and implementing process improvements.
- Strong organizational and leadership capabilities. Effective communicator. Excellent interpersonal skills.
- Aptitude for decision making and problem solving. Also has confidence, maturity and intellect to know when it is appropriate and necessary to work collaboratively with President to achieve common goals.
- A “roll up your sleeves” mentality. Willingness to put in the effort and time necessary to get the job done.
Work Schedule
Full-time position.
Regular hours are 8am-4:30pm, Monday-Friday.
