Collectively, more than 26,000 researchers, academic staff and students face the challenges of society, culture, education, economics, technology, nature and the environment.The University of Wuppertal invites applications for aProfessorship (§ 36 HG NRW) in Movement and Training Science (legal basis: W 2 LBesG NRW). The position will be based in the Institute of Sport Science within the School of Human and Social Sciences.The position is to be taken up by 1st of October, 2023.Expectations:We are looking for an internationally recognized scientist with leadership experience in the scientific field of movement and training sciences, who will represent the area in research and academic teaching within the Institute of Sports Science. The applicant should hold a university degree in sports science. An independent research profile is expected in the scientific domains of movement and training science, in particular in prevention and rehabilitation, performance and functional diagnostics (e.g. in the areas of popular and elite sports), as well as in children and youth sport. The research portfolio should be compatible with current lines of research in the Institute of Sports Science, and in harmony with the University's profile as a whole. An appropriate strategic research plan with emphasis on compatibility within our scientific community and on the promotion of young scientists is to be submitted.Experience in the successful acquisition of third-party funding, publications in prestigious international journals or other publications are expected to be provided in an appropriately detailed listing. The professorship will be actively involved in strategic planning, curriculum development and teaching with respect to the Bachelor and Masters programmes offered by the Institute, with a focus on the Master of Science in Sports Science. Adequate teaching experience and proof of didactic competence (e.g., via teaching evaluations) are required. Furthermore, participation and support in the strategic development of the Institute is expected.Requirements:Besides pedagogical suitability, which has to be proven by appropriate previous experience or, in exceptional cases, demonstrated by excellent performance during the appointment procedure, the applicant is expected to have a particular aptitude for scientific work substantiated by the outstanding quality of a doctorate. Further scientific achievements must be demonstrated additionally and will be evaluated exclusively and comprehensively during the appointment procedure.
