Program Director

At Optus, we have an ambitious goal to be Australia’s most loved everyday brand.   The position of Program Director, Optus Mascot Exchange Exit is a key member of the Network Products, Programs and Services (NPPS) Division and will help deliver this strategic program for the Optus Network. NPPS fosters continuous improvement and a strong culture of agility, simplicity, and reliability for the Network and other related divisions of Optus.   This role would see you work closely with the Networks Divisional Leaders, Technical Project Director and Leaders, Platform Owners, Project Stream Leads, Project Managers and the broader Networks teams. The PD will craft and drive the program in collaboration with multiple Networks Divisions as well as other Optus divisions including IT, Enterprise & Business, Consumer and TV&Content. The delivery streams include network planning, construction of the new Ultimo Exchange, build & commissioning replacement platforms at alternative Optus Exchanges, service migrations, de-provisioning, decommissioning, equipment removals and make-good of the exchange.   The crucial purpose for this role is to ensure robust delivery execution of the Mascot Exchange Exit program to enable the realisation of related business goals and strategies. This includes effective program planning, monitoring and delivery of all project streams with the respective Networks and other domains. This role will directly lead the program end to end via assigned delivery resources and requires extensive engagement with Optus Senior Management and effective communications with the delivery teams.   Your day in the life at Optus Develop and maintain robust relationships with all Networks SLT, Technical Director and Leaders, as well as with the delivery teams reporting to them, to ensure that all initiatives meet the requirements of the program. In conjunction with the SLT, Technical Director and Leaders, Platform Owners and project managers, build the program delivery strategy and roadmap, that is aligned with the Annual Operating Plan (AOP) over several years. Provide strategic oversight to continuously refine and improve project governance and controls that will ensure before or “on time” delivery of the Exit program. Coordinating and successfully handling the interdependencies and scheduled completion of related projects and streams will be critical to the overall timely completion of the Mascot Exchange Exit.   Your skills to pay the bills Robust and tried experience managing portfolios of projects work ideally within Telecommunications/IT sectors as a Project Director / Leader delivering large projects and projects of work. Demonstrated success in directly leading large, sophisticated projects (initiative budgets more than $100m) as a Project or Program Director. Demonstrated ability to operate effectively in various environments and respond appropriately to unexpected circumstances and address ambiguity in a decisive manner. Manage compliance and conformance - Satisfy obligations (regulatory, legislation, common law, contractual), Optus policies, standards and professional guidelines. This will include identifying and understanding the long-term impacts of courses of action on the organisation’s risk undertaking and brand reputation.   Perks we love at Optus 3 days in the office, 2 days remote – with flexible hours to suit.
