Program Director Job Description The Program Director is responsible for the program. This role, with the direct support of AGF, will work with financial institutions to leverage financial products, offer capacity development services, and apply a gender focused approach to enable dignified and fulfilling jobs by enhancing the growth prospects of Micro and Small Enterprises (MSEs).Key responsibilities: Build relationships with financial institutions to drive inclusion and job creation.Manage credit for disadvantaged youth and women SME owners, ensuring liquidity, risk-sharing, and capacity development.Track impact, document insights, and report progress to stakeholders.Develop and execute strategies to achieve key performance indicators.Analyze market trends, financial institution needs, and opportunities for growth.Set and monitor team performance goals, fostering a culture of continuous improvement.Represent AGF and engage with key stakeholders to strengthen the program’s reputation.Establish long-term partnerships and resolve challenges with diplomacy.Advocate for AGF’s mission at industry events and meetings.Provide clear leadership, unifying staff under shared goals.Institutionalize effective partnership approaches.Onboard and manage staff while ensuring adherence to policies and technology for smooth program operations. Personal Specification Master’s degree or equivalent in Finance, Business, Development Economics, or Financial Inclusion.10+ years of experience in financing and supporting women and youth-owned MSMEs, including financial services and project management.At least 5 years of leadership and management experience, including staff development, coaching, and mentoring.Strong knowledge of Africa’s MSME landscape and their challenges.Experience working with SACCOs, FinTechs, or MFIs that finance MSMEs in Africa.Ability to effectively communicate progress and insights to colleagues and the development community.Proven leadership skills to motivate, develop, and manage small to medium-sized teams.Strong planning, organizing, and problem-solving abilities.Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English; French is a plus.Ability to work independently, collaboratively, and influence without direct authority.
