Overview: United Way Bay Area (UWBA) mobilizes the Bay Area to dismantle the root causes of poverty and build equitable pathways to prosperity UWBA brings together partners from the nonprofit, business, and government sectors to address Bay Area poverty. We partner across sectors, develop solutions, capture the data we need, and use those insights to support public policy and create research-backed community initiatives. These initiatives include:
Housing Justice: Improve access to stable, affordable housing and homelessness prevention.
Employment & Career Opportunities: Build systems and pathways to career and employment opportunities.
Financial Stability: Help families increase income and savings on their way to financial stability.
Basic Needs: Ensure access to basic needs like food, housing, and legal services.

Opportunity:
Are you passionate about helping people in Bay Area communities move out of poverty and addressing the region’s housing crisis? Do you thrive in a position where you can work closely with community leaders and organizations to help accomplish strategies for community impact and mobilization? The Program Manager position works to manage the UWBA Ambassadors program, an advisory body of community and clients that centers client voices into programmatic, grantmaking, advocacy, marketing, and fundraising efforts. UWBA Ambassadors are community members who have participated in one or more of UWBA's programs as clients, staff, or volunteers and have valuable lived experiences and deep expertise in the Bay Area's most pressing challenges. This position will manage coordination of ambassador opportunities, manage contracts with consultants, coordinate and provide professional develop opportunities, and work with UWBA staff to ensure ambassador voices are central to our programmatic, advocacy, marketing, grantmaking, and fundraising efforts. This position will lead UWBA’s efforts to center lived experiences as leaders in the work, making sure UWBA Ambassadors are treated with dignity and respect, honoring their experiences and expertise and ensuring that they are valued leaders in the community.
This position is responsible for working with the Community Impact Team and other United Way staff, volunteers and partners to achieve significant, measurable results. The Program Manager position is a professional level position reporting to the Vice President, Economic Success. This position will eventually report to the Vice President, Impact Strategies.
UWBA allows a hybrid remote/in-person work model with this position based in our San Francisco office. This position will be responsible for projects and assignments in all of the eight counties that UWBA serves.
