SUMMARY
The Project Assistant is responsible for establishing effective working relationships with clients and managing the flow of routine information and documents to the entire project team on several projects.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Individual assignments will vary based on project scope, phase, and job requirements
- Lead by example and encourage a proactive safety culture.
- Prepare and provide onboarding for new hires; ensure all paperwork is completed timely.
- General contract and subcontract administration.
- Maintain up-to-date, accurate documents for the project including drawings, RFIs, submittals, logs, test results, etc.
- Procurement and expediting of material and equipment.
- Documentation of project coordination meetings.
- Support the Project Manager in administration of subcontracts, RFIs, and change orders.
- Maintenance of As-Built plans.
- Assist with quality control and project closeout.
- Implement all applicable safety and EEO/Affirmative Action programs for the Iowa City office.
QUALLIFICATIONS include the following:
- Able to work professionally with both management and construction workers in situations involving critical lead times, budgets, and deadlines.
- Detail oriented and focused.
- Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record.
- Strong work ethic and desire to work in a team environment.
REQUIRED SKILLS:
- Minimum 2 years of project assistant or administration experience in commercial construction.
- Able to work with people in situations involving challenges, lead times, budgets, and deadlines.
- Good oral and written communication.
- Proficient in MS Office programs, PDF/drawing viewers, and ability to work in project management programs (ProCore and Vista or similar platforms).
- Accounting experience is a plus (Payroll, payables & receivables).
- Professional attitude.
