Description:
A fully competent professional in all conventional aspects of the subject matter of the assignment, who is capable of independently performing assignments with instructions as to the general results expected. The Project Engineer receives technical guidance from the Department Manager, Chief Engineer and/or Senior Project Engineer. The Project Engineer plans, schedules and coordinates detailed phase work requiring judgment in independent evaluation, selection and substantial adaptation and modification of standard techniques, procedures and criteria. The Project Engineer directly supervises personnel assigned to his or her project team. The Project Engineer must relate well to those staff members and assure their continuing professional advancement. Has regular client contact to ensure everyday operation is monitored.

Required Experience:

B.S. in Civil Engineering
Valid driver’s license
Registered professional engineer (P.E.)
Five to 10 years of professional experience working within the consulting engineering and design industry.
Demonstrated ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
Ability to work in a team environment.
Strong organizational, analytical and problem solving skills.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities:

General knowledge of other disciplines involved in multi-disciplined projects.
Requires sufficient professional experience to assure competence as fully trained engineer.
Prepare construction plans, estimates, specifications and bid documents for local municipalities according to applicable agency standards
Preparation of proposal estimates of time and cost required to complete a project.
Assisting in the presentation of proposals to clients and selection of a project team.
Determining major project design decisions in conjunction with the client, such as setbacks, location of roadways, storm drains, sewer and other utility routes, etc.
Assigning duties to the project team, answering their questions, and monitoring their progress.
Checking the accuracy of completed work.
Maintaining a close relationship with the client throughout development of the project, assisting the client in selecting contractors, and continuing client contact after project is completed.
Monitoring construction.
Review and recommendation of change orders.
The timely and accurate completion of assigned projects
