Job Description

We are currently looking to recruit a Project Controls Director within our Integrated Programme Controls team to join us here at Aecom. This is a lead role where in which you will be able to demonstrate experience in the delivery of PMO best practice in a consulting environment.

Focused on the delivery of infrastructure projects and programmes, you will be able harness your client relationships to generate new and existing business opportunities.

You will have a keen interest in the future of Project Controls, as the infrastructure and construction industries adapt and harnesses digital transformation tools such as AI.

Leadership role within the IPC team

  • Experience gained within a consultancy setting, on large, complex infrastructure or construction projects / programmes.

  • Knowledge of major infrastructure or construction projects (under NEC Forms of Contract), and of the context specifically surrounding Client and the consultation process.

  • Ability to manage stakeholders and information flow in a matrix environment, possessing an aptitude to work across business areas and provide specialist advice as required.

  • Experience of leading and motivating a team within a large-scale project environment.

  • Possessing attention to detail always, with ability to solve complex problems / mitigate risks.

  • Knowledge of public sector policies, processes and procedures and associated political impacts

  • Possesses proven knowledge in commercial strategies.

  • Participates in negotiations when requested and appropriate.

  • Responsible for staffing decisions to meet project objectives and seeks appropriate talent through prescribed Company processes and procedures.

  • Addresses and/or documents employee performance issues and takes lead role in resolution.

  • Willing to assume mentoring and training role and works within Company guidelines to establish appropriate department programs to support the process.

  • Serves when called upon as a key participant in client and/or subcontractor negotiations.

  • Prepares and maintains an accurate budget and ensures that all project participants are aware of their budget.

  • Expert understanding of Schedule critical path analysis, resource loading and levelling.

  • Assists the Project Manager in the management of funds and funds reporting.

  • Assists appropriate management in budgeting and managing incentive programs.

  • Oversees administrative aspects of the project controls programme.

Qualifications

As the ideal candidate you will have experience working within our primary markets along with having the following preferred experience and qualifications.

Bachelor’s Degree from a recognised and accredited university or hold a project controls or management qualification (APMG Planning and Controls, Prince2, RICS, APM, MICE, CIOB).

  • Proven experience and excellent working knowledge gained in a multi-discipline project environment in Cost Control or Planning & Scheduling.

  • Experience in the implementation of Earned Value Management based Project Control systems, in accordance with relevant national standards.

  • Practical ability to utilise critical project management concepts (e.g., EVM, project planning, risk analysis, configuration management.

  • Proficient in Primavera P6, MS Project or other Planning software and PowerBI.

  • Flexibility to travel and work in different sectors.

  • Good people management and task facilitation skills.

  • Technical professional with extensive project controls experience.

  • Knowledge of engineering and construction management.

  • Working knowledge of current methodologies and tools related to managing projects.
