The NPD Project Engineer I is responsible for project engineering and management of the development and validation of new products and processes at MICRO.
The NPD Project Engineer I is expected is to:
· Successfully execute and complete all projects:
o Complete projects on time and budget
o Meet all customer and product requirements
o Manage customer satisfaction as demonstrated by internal and external customer feedback
o Successfully transition product to production by meeting approved manufacturing and scrap rates
Project Management 50%
· Leads a team of internal engineering and operational resources to develop, design, and validate new products and processes with oversight from senior engineering staff and manager as needed.
· Interacts with customers via email, calls and meetings to communicate project activities and status
· Develops project schedules, budgets, and forecasts. Implements and communicates an operational plan for completing the project
· Monitors progress and performance against the project plans and takes action to resolve problems and minimizes delays.
· Directs the validation activities for new tools and processes and submits validation packages to customers for new parts, design modifications and process changes.
· Works with operations and engineering to transfer new programs to production
· Selects materials, equipment, project staff, and external contractors.
Engineering, Research & Analysis 50%
· Provides technical support and overall product engineering during the development, validation and implementation of new products and processes
· Develops process documentation, including process flows, PFMEA’s, process control plans, operational work instructions, and preventative maintenance plans
· Performs validations, including the writing and execution of IQ’s, OQ’s, and PQ’s
· Conducts engineering studies and analyzes data, utilizing DOE’s, SPC, and other quality tools to fulfill customer requirements and manufacturing initiatives
· Applies GD&T and measurement techniques to review and interpret part print design, quality and intention. Develops and evaluates inspection methods and measurement capabilities
· Evaluates process stability and capability
· Provides input to the production controls system and design controls activities
· Provides input for new product equipment selection, installation and maintenance
· Participates in research and development activities
This position has no talent management responsibilities.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
· Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related field is required.
· 2- 4 years of relevant engineering or project management experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
LICENSE AND CERTIFICATION
· Six Sigma training and certification a plus
