The Project Engineer is a crucial member of an engineering design team, working under the guidance of a Project Manager or Firm Principal. Engaged in various project types encompassing municipal/public works, commercial and private development, single and multifamily development, as well as water resources. Responsible for conducting design and analysis using diverse engineering software, overseeing the work of a staff engineer or CAD Technician, and preparing comprehensive site/civil construction documents for execution.
Job Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with the Project Manager to create civil design plans and detailed specifications, including site plans, grading plans, utility plans, drainage plans, and utility plans and profiles.
- Conduct modeling and calculations, covering drainage analysis, water and sewer usage, slope calculations, pipe calculations, channel calculations, and use relevant software. Review similar design analyses conducted by a graduate engineer.
- Develop technical reports, letters, and maintain project schedules using Microsoft Office Suite.
- Delegate project tasks to staff engineers and CAD technicians, coordinating timelines with the Project Manager to ensure compliance with project scope and design standards.
- Produce engineering and design documents employing AutoCAD Civil 3D.
Job Qualifications:
- Holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering or an equivalent from an ABET accredited college or university.
- Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification, eligibility for a Professional Engineer (PE) registration with the Texas Board of Professional Engineering and Land Surveyors. Possession of a PE license is advantageous.
- Carries 4-9 years of experience in civil engineering or related fields, with expertise in design principles, regulations, and techniques pertinent to the Project Engineer's area of specialization.
- Proficient in AutoCAD Civil 3D and Microsoft Office Suite, experienced in engineering programs such as HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, PondPack, and StormCAD for design and modeling. Expected to offer training to graduate/staff engineers.
- Demonstrates excellent communication skills, both written and oral, essential for interactions with clients, public agencies, and maintaining professionalism.
- Exhibits strong interpersonal and organizational skills, adept at managing time, tasks, and leading the design team with flexibility.
