Join Optus as a Project Engineer , where you'll play a key role in driving the installation and service assurance of the telecommunication outside plant within the Optus Fibre Network. You’ll have the opportunity to work autonomously, making critical decisions as you adapt to cutting-edge network infrastructure and evolving technologies. Your expertise will help shape the development and implementation of standards and procedures, ensuring high-quality project outcomes and service excellence. Your day in the life as a Project Engineer: Manage contractor activities to ensure network facility installations are completed to Optus and industry standards, with full compliance to WH&S requirements. Coordinate and oversee the end-to-end delivery of Fibre projects, including design critique, build, and testing to ensure smooth implementation. Lead quality assurance efforts for new network builds, ensuring installations meet Optus standards. Drive the resolution of design and network issues by liaising with internal teams and contractors to ensure projects stay on track. Prepare and evaluate tenders for network projects, ensuring competitive and efficient service delivery. Proactively monitor network performance, identify potential issues, and take swift action to resolve them before they impact service. Critique and suggest improvements to network designs, ensuring seamless delivery and future-proofing infrastructure. Provide on-the-ground support for engineers by assisting with provisioning, commissioning services, and managing network relocations. Contribute to the development and refinement of company processes, ensuring alignment with current practices and continuous improvement in service delivery Your skills to pay the bills: Certificate II/III in telecommunications or equivalent, or relevant experience, with a focus on technologies used in the Optus Network. Proven experience and knowledge in the telecommunications industry, particularly in Fibre network topologies and maintenance. Ability to read and interpret CAD drawings for network design and construction. Strong computer skills, including proficiency in the MS Office suite and project management tools. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, to effectively engage with internal teams and contractors. Demonstrated ability to use and interpret results from various network test equipment. Experience in managing third-party contractors and ensuring compliance with project standards. Strong project management skills, with the ability to prioritise tasks and adapt to changing project demands. Effective time management skills, able to work under pressure while meeting strict deadlines. Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel to support network projects across the region. Familiarity with Optus systems such as HELIX and NSM for managing change requests and incident management is highly desirable.
