Are you a skilled engineer looking for an exciting opportunity to work on innovative structural designs? My client is seeking a Project Engineer to join their dynamic team. As a Project Engineer, you will play a crucial role in designing and developing cost-effective, practical structural solutions using steel, glass, and Ethylene tetrafluoroethylene (ETFE) materials.
Key Responsibilities:
Produce accurate and technically sound design solutions within project budgets and timelines, collaborating with the Novum project team and Client design team.
Select appropriate systems for projects regarding structure, glass, and cladding, including assisting in the development of bespoke design solutions when necessary.
Develop structural 2D and 3D models using analysis and design software, ensuring compliance with building regulations and design standards.
Generate structural design calculations, connection designs, and details for coordination with primary structures and interfacing works.
Create practical and efficient connection details tailored to project requirements, utilizing both digital and hand-drawn sketches for effective communication.
Conduct detailed analysis and design and produce clear structural reports for client approval and internal communication.
Assist in resolving technical issues during both design and construction phases.
Attend Design Team meetings with internal and external stakeholders.
Assist in the production of technical method statements and assessment of structural aspects related to safe installation.
Ensure designs comply with CDM regulations, relevant building regulations, and design codes.
Complete Design Risk Assessments specific to each project.
Stay updated on UK and European engineering standards, building regulations, and new software relevant to the role.
Continuously develop and improve skills and knowledge through CPD sessions and training courses.
Conduct site visits as required.
Relevant Qualifications:
Degree or equivalent in Civil or Structural Engineering, or relevant experience.
Membership or working towards membership of a relevant professional body such as IStructE or ICE is desirable.
Experience & Knowledge:
Proven experience in steelwork, from design through to fabrication and installation.
Experience with glass, steel grid shell, and steel connection design is desirable.
Experience in ETFE design is advantageous.
Familiarity with Rstab, IDEA Statica, Mepla, AutoCAD, or similar software is desirable.
Ability to understand and interpret architectural and structural drawings is essential.
Proficiency in working to British and European codes and standards is essential.
