Summary: You are SIRQ’s representative on site. The Owner, Architect and Subcontractor see the Project Engineer as the face of SIRC construction.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: (Include the following but are not limited to)
Below is a list of job duties, many of which may be given to a Superintendent, or to Project Engineer:
- Risk Management
- PE looks to the PM for the financial, contractual, operational, environmental (weather), and the schedule.
- Project Organization
- Provide contract and important detailed information to SIRQ Controller for ProCore set up.
- Ensure the following information is downloaded into ProCore:
- Job Address, Owner information, Job Value, Prime contract, Architect, Sub-Contract, Architect, Sub-contractors, Financial markups, Budget
- Establish team meetings- Need to establish repeated meetings to establish roles and responsibilities.
- Kick-off meeting
- Subcontractor checklist
- Financial Markups
- Budget
- Project Changes- Costs/ Time
- Distributed to Project Team
- Distributed to applicable Subcontractors (trade partners)
- Know allowed markups for Subcontractors and SIRQ
- Does the owner contract limit the duration allowed for pricing and change submission?
- Work with the Team
- Pay Apps and payments both owner and subcontractor
- Obtain review and approve sub pay applications.
- Review applications with the project superintendent for approval before payment
- Work with subcontractors to get accurate pay applications.
- Create and submit owner pay applications.
- Include all subcontractors’ applications.
- Include work completed by subcontractors even if they did not bill.
- Bill general conditions – bill at least one pay period ahead for the entire project team

- Review and understand subcontractor quotes.
- Choose the right sub for the project. May not be low bid.
- Write subcontractor scopes of work.

- Be familiar with all aspects of owner contract and where to find specific items.
- Memorize basic requirements of owner contract.

- Understand SIRQ’s subcontract and where to find requirements in contract.
- Run Meetings
- Be in charge of OAC meeting, or other meetings with the owner or Architect.
- Take the lead in SIRQ coordination meetings or delegate but you are responsible. Staff, Project Reviews, kickoff, meetings with architects and/or owners.
- Know when to step back and step-up in meetings. Sub meeting, project reviews…

- Whenever possible the PM should have an office set up in the job trailer to allow him/her to spend most of the time on site. This helps create a team attitude and allows for better coordination and problem solving.

Education and/or Experience
In the process of earning a bachelor's degree (B.A, P.E.) from a credible college/ University in Engineering or Construction Mgmt. Or have at least 2 years of experience in a related field.
Skills
Ability to read, write and speak in English. Must have the ability to analyze and respond to engineering drawings, purchase orders, and contracts. Ability to effectively communicate with owners, supervisors, and co-workers.
Mathematical Skills
Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations and calculate mathematical extensions. Good knowledge of geometric formulas and equations are required to calculate area, volume, etc. in performing take-offs.
Reasoning Ability
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. General understanding of estimating techniques, cost control and material pricing.
Computer Skills
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have an excellent knowledge of Estimating and Scheduling software is a plus; Internet and Project Management software; Spreadsheet and Word Processing software is mandatory.
Supervisory Responsibilities
Coordinate and oversee a variety of sub-contractor employees.

Working Conditions- The office environment is a low to medium risk area. Computers and phones are constantly in use. Work in the construction area poses significantly greater risk due to moving construction equipment and active construction zones with trip and fall hazards, and movement across uneven terrain. Most work is performed outdoors with exposure to extremes of heat and cold temperatures and inclement weather.
Work Environment The work environment characterizes described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is exposed to typical office environments. The employee may occasionally be exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals or the risk of electrical shock.
