Position Overview:

We are seeking a Construction Project Engineer with at least 3+ years of experience in Public Works or OSHPD/HCAI-regulated projects. The ideal candidate will play a critical role in supporting project management, ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations, and coordinating with various stakeholders to deliver successful construction projects on time and within budget.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in planning, scheduling, and managing construction projects within Public Works or OSHPD/HCAI guidelines.
  • Coordinate with architects, engineers, subcontractors, and regulatory agencies to ensure project requirements are met.
  • Review and interpret project plans, specifications, and contracts.
  • Support submittals, RFIs, change orders, and document control processes.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHPD/HCAI regulations (for healthcare projects) or Public Works standards (for municipal/state projects).
  • Monitor job site safety, quality control, and project progress.
  • Track budgets, cost estimates, and assist in forecasting project expenses.
  • Provide technical support and problem-solving to address construction challenges.
  • Maintain clear communication with stakeholders, including owners, inspectors, and internal teams.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field .
  • 3+ years of experience as a Project Engineer in construction, preferably in Public Works or OSHPD/HCAI projects.
  • Strong understanding of OSHPD/HCAI regulations (for healthcare projects) and/or Public Works contract requirements.
  • Proficiency in construction management software (Procore, Bluebeam, PlanGrid, etc.).
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, specifications, and construction documents.
  • Knowledge of state and federal building codes and permitting processes.

Qualifications:

  • Experience with California Public Works projects, including prevailing wage compliance.
  • Familiarity with OSHPD 1, 2, and 3 requirements and healthcare facility construction.
  • OSHA 30 certification is a plus.
