Safely delivering next-generation infrastructure that better connects people and transforms communities is at the heart of what we do.About the OpportunityCPB Contractors has been selected to deliver the Screening and Baggage Upgrade at Melbourne Airport Terminal 1 and we are looking for an experienced Project Engineer (day & night shift) with either an electrical, mechanical or building services background.This project has multiple workstreams that will need to be upgraded including the customer and staff screening locations, self-service baggage drop, baggage handling screening machines, access control upgrades and CCTV upgrades. These upgrades will be throughout the entire Qantas terminal and will have a direct impact on improving baggage handling and customer experience throughout the terminal. The upgrades will be carried out in the live environment of the Qantas terminal and as such we are looking for people that have a particular eye for planning and are very detailed focus.The role accountabilities are to: Enforce and promote safety culture and requirements on site.Review the construction documentation and assist in the development of the “scope of works” for sub-contractorsAssist the Senior Project Engineer and commercial team in the procurement of the Sub Contractor packagesWork with the sub-contractors in; Creating 6 week look ahead programmes and create a day-by-day programmeDevelop daily work task listsUsing the above feed into the approval to work and outage processDevelop detailed planning information to customer relations team in order to arrange access and outages. Assist in monitoring of sub-contractor performance on siteBe an integral part of the quality process including carrying out inspectionsProvide regular reporting internally on progress, quality etc. Minimum requirements for this role are: Bachelor’s degree in either electrical or mechanical engineeringBuilding Services or trade equivalent with project management experience (a must)Construction site experienceStrong project management and communications skillsExperience in working in live environmentsWillingness to work night shift work when required This role will be most appealing to a person that values very high detailed planning above all else. As this is in a live environment and there is very small windows of opportunity to carry out the works it is imperative that the planning is completed not just well but well above average. The engineering team on this project will be quite niche and will work close together, the successful applicant will have access to senior managers on the project as well as subject matter experts where needed so will also provide a great career opportunity and advancement if performance is high.
