DESCRIPTION/RESPONSIBILITIES:
Nationally recognized environmental remediation contractor (#3 in ENR in 2022) looking for an entry level Project Engineer to support environmental remediation projects around the country. Some of our clients include the US Army Corps of Engineers and US EPA. Travel will be required.
Two projects for these clients consist of large scale environmental remediation under the Superfund Program. The work for the first project includes demolition of a large building, installation of sealed sheet piling/shoring to prevent infiltration of groundwater, deep excavations of underlying soils and offsite transportation and disposal, dewatering of the excavation and water treatment and discharge, excavation around active 30” water lines, and backfill and restoration activities. The work for the second project includes a 60 CFS by-pass operation of a brook/creek allowing removal of the underlying sediment and soil, dewatering and water treatment operations, processing and offsite disposal of the removed sediment/soils, and extensive restoration activities including wetland restoration.
Sevenson has been in business for over 100 years, entering the environmental remediation market sector in 1979 performing the remediation at the first Superfund site ever – Love Canal. We have a huge program and great backlog of work.
This is not a contract position. We hire our employees with the intent for them to retire at Sevenson.
The daily work will include:
- Report daily construction activities
- Development of daily excavation drawings via AutoCAD
- Maintain daily material delivery tracking and various construction production logs
- Preparation of written work plans
- Quality control of ongoing construction work in accordance with the project construction drawings and specifications
- Coordination of site deliveries with field personnel
- As the individual progresses in this position, responsibilities may also include procurement of materials, equipment rentals and professional services, project scheduling, and project accounting and cost tracking.
SKILLS/EXPERIENCE NEEDED:
Bachelor’s Degree in Civil, Environmental Engineering or applicable science degree from an accredited college/university. This position requires a well-organized individual with good communication skills as the selected individual will interact regularly with internal project management staff, field supervision, professional services, construction subcontractors, and the client’s representatives.
Other job requirements include:
- 0 to 5 years previous construction or engineering/consulting industry experience supporting construction
- Intermediate to proficient knowledge of AutoCAD software
- Proficiency in MS Word and Excel
- Knowledge or prior use of MS Project a plus
- General knowledge of OSHA safety regulations a plus
- E.I.T. certification preferred
- Prior experience in environmental dredging and GPS technology preferred
- Generalized heavy civil/earthwork construction experience preferred

An employee’s salary is based on commensurate experience and other qualifications.
