Project Overview: Bechtel Mining and Metals offers engineering, procurement, and construction services for customers in the mining sector across multiple commodities including Iron Ore, Bauxite, Alumina, Aluminium, Copper, Gold, Coal, Lithium and Rare Earths markets. This role is for a reclaimer replacement project for an iron ore port facility located in Western Australia for a tier 1 mining company. Job Summary: As Project Engineer - Machines, you will work in a team of engineering personnel to support and respond to queries from the Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM). This position is designated as part-time telework per our global telework policy and may require at least three days of in-person attendance per week at the assigned office or project. Weekly in-person schedules will be determined by the individual and their supervisor, in consultation with functional or project leadership. Major Responsibilities: Reviewing submissions from OEM and completing technical evaluation against the package technical requirements including specifications, scope of work and the other package requirements. Reviewing vendor technical documentation submissions for compliance. Reporting to the Area Project Engineer and interfacing with engineering discipline experts and providing support to the other on and offboard engineering disciplines, Procurement and the Construction team, and external customers. Planning, developing, coordinating and reviewing work within the project. Supervising day-to-day the technical work of the engineers and designers within the team. Expediting the supply of deliverables from an OEM and the review and return of those deliverables. Providing expert advice and guidance to the offboard engineering team with respect to bulk materials handling machine requirements and interfacing. Other duties as required. Education and Experience Requirements: Requires a bachelor's degree in an Engineering discipline and 8 -10 years of relevant experience. Previous experience on EPCM projects within mining and metals is preferred. Industry experience and with bulk materials handling experience essential, including experience with mechanical discipline aspects of rail-mounted stockyard machines preferred. Front end engineering and planning experience preferred. Required Knowledge and Skills: Able to work as part of integrated engineering team comprising the other engineering disciplines / multi-functional (procurement, construction, start-up) and transglobal teams. Language skills in Mandarin written/verbal/technical would be beneficial but not essential. Working Rights in Australia without employer sponsorship are required.
