Job Description
As a Project Engineer, you will play a critical role in supporting the successful execution of new construction projects. Your technical expertise, strong organizational skills, and ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams will contribute to the efficient and timely completion of projects while maintaining high-quality standards.
Responsibilities
- Project Planning and Coordination:
- Assist in the development of project plans, including scope, schedules, and budgets.
- Collaborate with the estimating and project management teams to ensure project goals and objectives are clearly defined.
- Support the coordination of project activities, including material delivery phasing and installation plans.
- Review project documents, drawings, and specifications to ensure accuracy and identify any discrepancies or conflicts. Callout drawing details using Bluebeam estimating software.
- Assist in the preparation of project documentation, such as RFIs (Requests for Information), submittals, and change orders
- Support successful page-flip and preconstruction meetings for the project team.
- Prepare and distribute install drawings to field teams, ensuring clear guidelines for roofing installation.
- Create comprehensive field packets, including plan pages, scope of work, system letters, and fastening patterns.
- Project Submittals:
- Review plans and project documents to gather necessary submittal information.
- Prepare and compile comprehensive submittal packages for submission to general contractors.
- Submit submittal packages to general contractors via email or designated software platforms.
- Maintain and update the submittal tracker for each project to track progress accurately.
- Provide regular updates on submittal status to internal teams using designated project management tools.
- Respond promptly to general contractors’ inquiries about submittals, addressing questions and providing status updates.
- Coordinate with general contractors to request updates on submittal status, ensuring timely approvals.
- Address returned questions or comments on submittal packages to ensure timely resolution and approval.
- Ensure submittal packages are approved by general contractors before the project start date.
- Documentation Management:
- Maintain submittal data in a meticulously organized manner, ensuring easy retrieval and reference.
- Obtain system letters from manufacturers by providing the necessary project information to meet project requirements.
- Assist in writing scope of work documents to ensure accurate project specifications.
- General document collection and preparation for production, uploading and maintaining documents in various applications.
- Include manufacturer system letters from submittal packages, flag layouts and install drawings using estimating software, and install packets including submittal components to project management tools.
- Technical Support:
- Provide technical support to the project team, subcontractors, and suppliers.
- Assist in interpreting construction plans and specifications, addressing any technical questions or concerns.
- Collaborate with the design team to review drawings and provide input on constructability and value engineering.
- Assist in resolving technical issues and coordinating solutions with the project team.
- Change Order Management:
- Assist in the management of change orders, reviewing their impact on project scope, schedule, and budget.
- Collaborate with the project team to assess change order requests and provide input on their feasibility and cost implications.
- Prepare change order documentation and support the project team in negotiations with clients, subcontractors, and suppliers.
- Track and document approved change orders and communicate changes to the project team.
- Additional Responsibilities:
- Handle additional responsibilities and projects as assigned.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in civil engineering, construction management, or a related field.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in construction project engineering or a similar role.
- Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, and industry standards.
- Proficiency in project management software and tools.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams.
- Team player attitude is a must.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Attention to detail and commitment to delivering high-quality work.
- Knowledge of safety regulations and quality control processes.
- Ability to read and interpret construction plans and specifications.
